Mrs. Sarogi House, New Delhi. Progettisti Architetti: Roberto Magris (capogruppo), Piero Frassinelli, Alessandro Magris, Adolfo Natalini, Cristiano Toraldo di Francia. Collaboratore: arch. Manlio Brunetti.

      - Firenze, s.d.

        This America

1966. First Edition . Signed. JOHNSON, Lyndon Baines. This America. Photographed by Ken Heyman. New York: Random House, (1966). Quarto, original blue cloth, original dust jacket. $2500.First edition of Ken Heyman's challenging and inspiring photographic meditation on President Johnson's vision of America as the Great Society, signed by the president and inscribed by the First Lady to Cartha Dekle ""Deke"" DeLoach, deputy director of the FBI, ""To Deke de Loach — with our appreciation and warm best wishes — Lady Bird Johnson, Christmas 1966.""""One of the top photojournalists in the United States"" (McDarrah & McDarrah, 226), Heyman is perhaps best known for his signature ""'hipshooting' style that magnified the happenstance beyond the photographic eye's scope"" (Chapnick, 231). In this work, however, Heyman showcases the range of his expertise by composing images that vary in subject matter from the mundane—a family saying bedtime prayers, a professor lecturing his college class, a young boy fishing in a lake—to the majestic—California's towering redwoods, the span of the Golden Gate Bridge, the monuments of Washington, D.C.—in order to illustrate President Johnson's speeches, here presented with typographic dignity befitting a formal creed, about America's potential to become ""the Great Society."" ""The book, published by Random House, was the editorial creation of Jerry Mason, editor of the award-winning Family of Man. Mason chose excerpts from the President's words… 'to serve as a shooting script' for the photographer… who spent nearly six months traveling throughout the United States in search of suitable pictures"" (The American Presidency Project). Issued the same year in wrappers, presumably simultaneously. Inscribed to Cartha Dekle ""Deke"" DeLoach, ""top aide and confidant to J. Edgar Hoover… and a powerful intermediary between Hoover and President Lyndon B. Johnson during an especially tense political era"" (New York Times). In his over a quarter century at the FBI, DeLoach rose to the rank of deputy associate director, the agency's third most senior official.Book about-fine, price-clipped dust jacket very good with mild edge-wear and modest closed tears to front panel. A desirable inscribed presentation/association copy.

No.170 of 300 copies., Los Angeles Dawsons Book Shop 1966 - Twenty-two specimens of Korean printing from moveable types from the earliest fully developed type to a font of 1858 are included in this book, to illustrate the development of Korean printing. Each specimen is from a different movable type font, and is described in the facing text.         Two figures at table, from the collection of Jean Bourgoint

      - Bourgoint and his sister were immortalized in Cocteau's classic Les Enfants Terribles as the troubled siblings whose relationship ended in disaster. Bourgoint was a member of Cocteau's close circle of friends, which included Berard, Maurice Sachs, Rene; Crevel and assorted others, many of whom were frequent users of opium. He later befriended Jacques Maritain and eventually settled in Cameroun, where he worked in a leper colony. The image is approximately 8.5" x 7" and is in very good condition and bears the Bourgoint ownership stamp. Although unsigned by Berard, the images is one of a series by the artist assembled by Bourgoint and sold in Paris in 1966. [Attributes: First Edition]

In Cold Blood: A True Account of a Multiple Murder and Its Consequences

Random House, New York 1966 - SIGNED - Octavo. Brown cloth covered boards and spine with shiny gilt lettering and silver design on the spine and gilt lettering on the front board. Very light bumping at the head and tail of the spine. Couple very small spots on the front board above the gilt "TC" where the color of the cloth is slightly lighter - noticable, but unobtrusive. Mauve colored endpapers. Signed by the author on the title page in very dark blue pen. State identified by "First Printing" statement on the copyright page. Binding is straight and tight. Pages clean, white, and crisp. Black topstain. 343 pages. Dust Jacket - has light rubbing at the head and tail of the spine and at the tips of the outside corners. There is a chip in the front corner of the tail of the spine that is nearly 1/2" deep but is nearly closed in by the paper of the jacket as if it were a worn chip rather than a torn one. Nearly unnoticable trace of rubbing in a few places along the upper and lower edges of the rear cover. Upper corner of the front inside flap has been price clipped, but the 1/66 is present on the lower corner of the same. Very nice overall appearance. Capote enlisted the assistance of good friend Harper Lee during his period of research for the book, and took her to Kansas with him to conduct interviews. One of the first books, if not the very first, of its kind, and considered by many to be Capote's masterpiece (along, some would say, with Breakfast at Tiffany's).
