Kesey, Ken
New York: Viking Press, 1962. Fine in spine faded dust jacket, which otherwise shows very little wear. A highspot in American literature that made its author a celebrity, inspired an Academy Award-winning movie (the 5 big awards, though Kesey himself wasn't entirely pleased with it), and changed the way people thought about mental institutions, drugs, and authority. While many see it as representative of the tumult of the 1960s, Kesey was wont to place himself between The Beats and the countercultural groups of the sixties: "I was too young to be a beatnik, and too old to be a hippie." Perhaps that makes it timeless. Fine in Near Fine jacket. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]

BURGESS, Anthony
London: Heinemann,, 1962. Octavo. Original black cloth, titles to spine gilt. With the dust jacket. Housed in a custom made box by the Chelsea Bindery, black half morocco with black cloth-backed boards, red morocco labels lettered in gilt to spine, spine gilt to compartments with four raised bands, black and red morocco design to cover mirroring the dust jacket design. Very slight bumping to head of spine, tiny spot of abrasion to front free endpaper. An excellent copy in the dust jacket, very slightly nicked at extremities, spine panel very slightly faded, short closed tear to front panel. First edition, first impression, first issue binding and first issue dust jacket with the 16s. price sticker and wider flaps. Signed by the author at title page. Loosely inserted in the box are related ephemera, constituting two newspaper clippings, an auction slip from the book's previous sale in the Donald G. Drapkin Library sale at Christie's in 2005, and a manuscript page of prompt notes for a lecture which covered A Clockwork Orange.
