        The Spy Who Loved Me

London: Jonathan Cape,, 1962. Octavo. Original dark grey boards, titles to spine in silver, dagger design to front board in silver and blind, red endpapers. With the dust jacket. Double-page spread illustration pp. 6-7. Bookseller's ticket to front pastedown. Spine very gently rolled, minor rubbing to extremities; an excellent, bright copy in the jacket with light soiling to covers, a little creasing and tiny nicks to extremities. First edition, first impression. This novel is the only Bond book to be written in the first person, presented as the testimony of a 23-year-old Canadian woman with whom Bond has an ill-fated affair. In furtherance of this pretence, Vivienne Michel gets a spurious credit on the title page as co-author.

The Runaway Bunny (Early Edition in Scarce Dustjacket)

New York: Harper & Row, 1962. Hardcover. Very Good +/Very Good. Clement Hurd. Very early (almost certainly the earliest) Harper & Row edition of this timeless classic, pairing the reassuring words of Margaret Wise Brown with the wonderful landscapes of Clement Hurd. This copy probably dates to 1962 (just when Harper & Row was established) and includes its very uncommon dustjacket. A tight, well-preserved copy: VG+ in its green boards, with just a touch of wear to the spine crown. And in a crisp, price-intact ("$2.75"), VG example of the pictorial dustjacket, with "A Harper Blue Ribbon Book" seal affixed to the front panel, light chipping at the spine ends and light wear --with several very small closed tears-- along the panel edges. Stil though, attractive and very presentable, especially in the Clement Hurd-illustrated dustjacket. Oblong octavo, one of the enduring works of children's literature.

        The Forms of Fiction

Random House (1962), New York - 657 pages. John Garner's first book, a textbook for English student consisting of an introductory essay on forms of fictional narratives, followed by an anthology of short stories by Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Katherine Anne Porter, Mark Twain, et al. First edition (first printing). A very good copy in a very good dust jacket. There is debate about whether this book, intended as a text book, was ever issued in a dust jacket for the first edition. In any case, this copy is very good, with some spotting to the spine, in a very good dust jacket, with light tanning to the spine and some light staining to the price-clipped dust jacket. Whether this dust jacket is original to the book, or married from a later printing, is beyond the skill of this cataloguer. Dust jackets for this book, on any printing, are vanishingly scarce in any case. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]

        The Spy Who Loved Me.

London: Jonathan Cape, 1962 - Octavo. Original dark grey boards, titles to spine in silver, dagger design to front board in silver and blind, red endpapers. With the dust jacket. Bookseller's ticket to front pastedown. Spine very gently rolled, minor rubbing to extremities; an excellent, bright copy in the jacket with light soiling to covers, a little creasing and tiny nicks to extremities. Double-page spread illustration pp. 6-7. Gilbert, A10a (1.1). [Attributes: First Edition]
