I don't see how these nurses can fail to win if Selwyn puts his foot down as firmly as he did with the dockers

, 1962. 1962. Sheet size: 192 × 140 mm. Pen and black ink with blue pencil crayon on wove paper. Stamped on verso for publication in the Daily Mail, 23 May 1962, and with pencil reproduction instructions recto. The Macmillan government's "pay pause" continued to sour labour relations. A month later Selwyn Lloyd, the Chancellor, was to lose his job in the "night of the long knives." The cartoons and illustrations of Nicolas Bentley (1907-1978) were part of the warp and weft of English popular culture in the 1950s and 60s. Never savage, though often waspishly accurate and exuding an urbane air of amusement at the foibles of his fellows, Bentley's work was familiar to the public from a wide variety of publications. Between 1952 and 1954 he drew regular cartoons for the weekly Time and Tide, and after that for the daily News Chronicle. Between 1958 and 1962 he drew topical cartoons for the Daily Mail under the title "Watch My Line." He also drew many portraits, in black and white line, of famous people, for various papers, including over sixty for the Sunday Telegraph, which began publication in February 1961.

, 1962. 1962. unbound. 2 pages (front and back), 8.5 x 6 inches, no place, June 8, 1962 -- a genuinely friendly letter to a fan in which Howard shares personal details (such as where each of the Stooges live), in part: "...I live Los Angeles, Larry lives in Hollywood and Curly Joe lives in No. Hollywood. Curly Joe is no relation to the original Curly but was my youngest brother. Yes I do know Redondo Beach it is about 1 hour's drive from where I live and I have done some fishing there..." [Attributes: Hard Cover]

Dreyer (Inscribed by Carl Theodor Dreyer)

Paris: Classiques du Cinema no. 10 / Editions Universitaires, 1962 Paris: Classiques du Cinema no. 10 / Editions Universitaires, 1962. Later printing, trade softcover. INSCRIBED by Carl Theodor Dreyer, in a slightly shaky hand, on the title page: "To Pierre Goulliard / Carl Th. Dreyer." Danish director Dreyer began in the cinema as a creator of intertitle cards for silent films, and after moving to France met Jean Cocteau, Jean Hugo, and other members of the French artists' scene. His first film, "The Passion of Joan of Arc" (1928) is almost entirely visual and ironically with very few intertitles, and is considered one of the greatest films of all time. His subsequent films include several works that are in the same category, masterpieces of paranoia, personal torment, and relentless indictment of organized religion. A truly rare signature, the only one we have ever encountered. From the collection of noted cinephile and collector Pierre Goulliard, who spent decades in the latter half of the twentieth century obtaining inscriptions from the giants of European cinema. Near Fine in wrappers. Square and tight, with a faint reader's crease and some light rubbing to the edges. Text in French, profusely photo illustrated throughout. Criterion Collection 62, 125, 126, 127, 128, 437.

        Leaving Cheyenne

Harper & Row 1962 - The second book by the incomparable Larry McMurtry. Few writers can boast of such an illustrious body of widely-read books and collection of beloved characters. Then to consider the incredible commercial success he experienced in Hollywood, you are hard-pressed to find a more impressive author. The Last Picture Show, Terms Of Endearment, Lonesome Dove(television miniseries)and his collaborative effort with Diana Ossana on Brokeback Mountain are several examples of adaptations of his works. Book is in VG condition and has been signed by the author. Spine is straight and true, no bumps to boards, markings to text, or tears or dog ears to pages. First Edition, First Printing. Harper & Row. 1962. DJ is in VG condition and mylar-protected. It is bright, retains its original rich coloring and is without fading. Slight, rubbing, wrinkling and chipping to the head and base of the spine, some wear to the fold along the front-center of the DJ(a few inches in total)and there is chipping to the bottom and top front corners. A couple other notable flaws are that someone pencil-filled the dot of the "I" in the title, and a faint swirling stain by the upper right corner. DJ has not been price-clipped and includes the $4.95 sticker affixed to the inner fold over the original price. (This was a publisher-mandated change.) This is an absolutely beautiful and highly-collectible copy that has been flat-signed to the title page by the author, while at The Tucson Festival Of Books in March of 2014. The Spy Who Loved Me

London: Jonathan Cape, 1962. London: Jonathan Cape,, 1962. Octavo. Original black boards, titles to spine in silver, dagger design to front board in silver and blind, red endpapers. With the illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends lightly bumped, a small light dampstain to bottom edge. An excellent copy in jacket with slightly rubbed rear cover, a couple of light dampstains to front cover, lightly nicked and chipped extremities. First edition, first impression. The tenth James Bond book. In many ways this is one of the most ambitious of Fleming's Bond books. It purports to be the first hand testimony of a 23 year old Canadian woman with whom Bond has an ill-fated affair. In time-honoured literary tradition Fleming claims to have been sent Michel's manuscript account of which he is merely the editor. Michel therefore gets a spurious credit as co-author on the title page. This novel is the only Bond book to be written in the first person.
