'The Guns of James Bond' contained within 'Sports Illustrated' Magazine Vol 16, No.11, 19th March 1962.

Chicago, Illinois: Time Inc. 1962. Pp.84. Original price 25cents. Magazine format, illustrated. Postal label to upper, some dampstaining to lower margins, very good. Contains the first US appearance of this original Ian Fleming feature entitled 'The Guns of James Bond', which not published in book-form until 2008. Scarce thus. 'Q Branch' (aka Major Boothroyd) in the Bond novels is based on Major Geoffrey Boothroyd, a gun expert who lived in Glasgow, Scotland. Boothroyd wrote to Fleming concerning his choice of firearms after reading the novels; he criticized Bond's use of guns and Fleming, far be it from being upset, took the expert's advice and adapted his writing accondingly- Boothroyd's comments included switching the Beretta (a ladies gun) for the Walther PPK, and he noted that a shoulder holster (as seen in the film 'Dr. No' (1962) does not provide as quick a draw as a belt holster (viz many Westerns). Geoffrey Boothroyd can be seen in person with Sean Connery in the black and white 1964 short documentary "The Guns of James Bond".This article is framed by the actual correspondence between Fleming and Boothroyd.

Visconti's classic, spacious homage to the quiet death of the Sicilian aristocracy of the mid-nineteenth century, one of the great films of the Italian cinema. Perhaps the apex of Ms. Cardinale's career, and one of a handful of examples of Burt Lancaster's willingness to take on literate, complex roles. Nominated for an Academy Award. Shot in 1962 during production. The first photograph pictures Cardinale and Delon in a heated moment, while the second shows the same shot, but with Visconti making adjustments to Cardinale's hair while the actors fall charmingly out of character. First photograph with the rubber stamp of Italian photographer G.B. Poletto on the the verso, along with some press notations. Second photograph with the blue rubber stamp of an Italian press agency, Keystone, and a mimeo in ditto style, on the verso. The Catcher Was A Spy! Moe Berg's 1962 Memo Book filled with his thoughts on baseball expansion.

[Newark, NJ], [1962]. 3.5" x 6". "Spiral Memo Book, 60 pages, 3.5"" x 6"", front and verso; 39 pages with writing, mostly in pencil. [New Jersey] May 1962. His name appears numerous times as ""M. Berg,"" M.B.,"" and ""Berg."" Scuffed dark blue covers, partially loose at spirals. Internally sound. Fine condition.BackgroundIn 1932, Morris ""Moe"" Berg, a catcher, and pitchers Ted Lyons and Lefty O'Doul, began a tour of Japan to teach baseball seminars at Japanese universities. Berg returned to Japan in 1934 with a group of All Stars, including Ruth and Gehrig, to play against a Japanese all star team. Unbeknownst to his teammates, Moe Berg sneaked onto the roof of one of the tallest buildings in Tokyo and filmed the city and harbor with his movie camera. Berg was an infielder for the Brooklyn Robins (1923) and White Sox (1926-1927), and a catcher for the White Sox (1927-1930), Indians (1931, 1934), Senators (1932-1934), and Red Sox (1935-1939). During the summer of 1942, just months after Pearl Harbor, Berg screened the footage he shot of Tokyo Bay for U.S. Army intelligence officers. He worked with the OSS (Office of Strategic Services),forerunner of the CIA, in World War II.Awarded the Medal of Freedom in 1946, Moe Berg refused to accept it; after his death in 1972, his sister accepted the award where it is now displayed at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Berg worked for the CIA from 1951-1953 where his baseball card is on display. He was a Mets fan and attended games usually sitting alone in the right field stands, wearing his customary black suit. A nurse at the hospital where he died said his last words were ""How did the Mets do today?"" The first place Mets had won 7-6.His Memo BookIn part, ""(1) Joe Cronin [American League President , 1949-1973], president American League in touch with Arthur D. Little. In ink, Berg adds on an opposite page: ""shades of Earl & Roy Mack, Connie Mack's two sons coming to me as mediator to buy each other out - result: no mediation & move to K.C."" Berg has written ""Get attendance figures of better clubs with leases} (a) Milwaukee (Boston), (b) Baltimore (St.L.), (c) K.C.         Where Witchcraft Lives.

London: The Aquarian Press, 1962 - Octavo. Original pale grey boards, title gilt to spine. With the dust jacket. Endpapers differentially browned from the presence of the jacket, ink address stamp of the publishers, Aquarian Book Service, to the front free endpaper as often, typical pale toning to the text and light foxing to the fore-edge, but overall very good in slightly rubbed jacket, price-clipped with a few of small chips and splits. First edition, first impression of the first book by "the mother of modern pagan witchcraft" (ODNB), most likely early state binding with the blocking in gilt rather than black. Doreen Valiente (1922–1999) became interested in the occult as a child, and was a practising clairvoyant by the time she was a teenager. In 1953, after reading an article on modern witchcraft, she joined Gerald Gardener's coven, and eventually became high priestess but left after the two had a falling-out in 1957, and ran her own coven until the early 1960s. In addition to serving as a leader of British neo-paganism, Valiente wrote "some of the major works of Wicca, including the enduring version of the most important, The Charge of the Goddess" (ODNB), and three other important books, "which established her as a public figure. In the first, An ABC of Witchcraft Past and Present (1973), she provided her own history of witchcraft; the second, Natural Magic (1975), was a handbook of practical magic; and the third, Witchcraft for Tomorrow (1978), was a book of ritual for witches who wished to set up their own covens" (ODNB). The present work is a survey of historical and contemporary witchcraft practices in Sussex, and is relatively uncommon in the dust jacket. [Attributes: First Edition]

La opera del orden di Alexander Jodorowsky. (Fotografia originale)

      S. e, 1962. Silver print cm 23 x 19, stampa vintage.

ITA
