There is a hand written note by Dahl was sent with the book to the previous owner, stuck onto the front free endpaper: 'For my old friend Ben [Reuss]. Arnold and Teamers (which we were) and Boazers (which we were not). From Roald. November 1960.' There is a 15mm band of fading from the joint of the lower board and a 10mm band of fading from its top edge. The spine is sun faded. There are pencil marks on the front board and little fading at the top - please see image.         Cuba and the United States; Vol. 1 Record of Revolution, USSR - China, UN and OAS Action Vol. 2 Bay of Pigs, October Crisis, Khrushchev - Kennedy, UN, OAS Action Complete Chronology of Events Through Mid - 1963

Blue card covers show some general wear, light soil and some creasing, extending to back pages ; Tight solid books. These publications are bound together with a ribbon like material ; International Review Service Volume VI, No. 60 & Volume IX, No. 79; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 49,163 pages; Both volumes of the Cuba and the United States series are included; Cuba and the United States; Vol. 1 Record of Revolution, USSR - China, UN and OAS Action (published in 1960) Vol. 2 Bay of Pigs, October Crisis, Khrushchev - Kennedy, UN, OAS Action. These books appear to be sponsored by the United Nations. Volume one, published in 1960, is an analysis of the rise of Fidel Castro and his followers, the reactions of the Organization of American States, the legal repercussions with regard to the Monroe Doctrine and the relations with the Latin American countries as well as the US embargo on exports to Cuba, which exists to this day. Volume 2 contains a brief analysis of the events and repercussions in Volume one and expands to include the events through to mid - 1963. In that period the US, under John F. Kennedy, attempted to depose Castro as evidenced by the disastrous 'Bay of Pigs' attack. Later, the whole world held its breath, fearing a nuclear war between the US and the USSR when the US navy was instructed to blockade Cuba after evidence of a buildup of Russian nuclear weapons became evident to the US intelligence services. The 'October Crisis' which pitted JFK against Krushchev in a battle of wits is analysed as well as the actions of the UN and other countries which sided with Cuba. Also present are communications between the interested parties - JFK, Krushchev and U Thant, Secretary General of the United Nations . These books are scarce, available in libraries but none appear for sale in the major databases.

Six Ink-Print Body Books by Brigid Berlin: Boys' Tits, Boys' Tits II, Feet, Feet, Ears and Kisses.]

[New York: Privately published c. late 1960s] - Original unique artists' books. Octavos. Collection of six blank books used by Brigid Polk, a.k.a. Brigid Berlin, to record body part imprints from various men. As a central figure in Andy Warhol's Factory, then in its second location, Berlin met and obsessively recorded interactions with the many actors, authors, painters, poets, photographers, cool dudes and hangers-on who passed through Warhol's world. The two "Tit" print books are the most populated with the first volume entirely filled with ninety-two sets of tits that overflow into a second volume with an additional forty-eight pairs. Includes prints by Dennis Hopper, Taylor Mead, Piero Heliczer, Joe Dallesandro, Gerald Malanga, Larry Fagin, Rene Ricard, Richard Hamilton, Paul Morrissey, Jackie Curtis, Peter Beard, Jim Carroll, Brice Marden, Robert Smithson, Larry Rivers, John Giorno, Robert Downey, Ronnie Cutrone, and Ted Joans, to name but a few. The exterior of "Boys' Tits I" is marked with Berlin's own breasts, and stamp labeled with her given name, "Brigid Polk." Many of the tit prints come with witty notations; Ben Boyley states that his left breast was kissed by Rod McKuen, Peter Beard records that his right breast is called "Thicky Tit Nixon". Jackie Curtis, drag queen, Warhol superstar and inspiration for the glam rock movement asks, "isn't this a good tit to be caught in the rain?" Seemingly Berlin had fewer takers for "Ears" and "Feet," though feet are recorded in two volumes, one volume contains thirty-two prints while the other only seven; "Ears" meanwhile records twenty ears, some with humorous notes. "Kisses" appears to record the same pair of unidentified lips imprinted on every page, possibly Berlin's own. Overall, a massively important social diary made conceptual artists' book created by an often unheralded creative mind at the center of Warhol's entourage. Volume one of "Boys' Tits" is very good with some wear to spine and rear wrapper detached but intact, volume two very good, all other volumes near fine in wrappers. Housed in a custom-made clamshell box.

Epistemological Problems of Economics. Translated by George Reisman.

Princeton, New Jersey, Toronto, London, and New York: D. Van Nostrand Company, Inc.,, 1960. Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in silver, with the dust jacket. Ownership inscription of Harold L. Spain to front free endpaper. Spine lightly sunned, short tear to front panel; a very good copy. First edition in English of von Mises's Grundprobleme der Nationalökonomie, originally published in 1933. "During the 1920, von Mises became very much interested in epistemology. In opposition to the increasingly fashionable methodology of positivism, he set forth a methodology of purely logical deduction from self-evident and a priori axioms, based on the approach of Nassau Senior and of other classical and Austrian economists. He developed his methodological approach - which he was later to call 'praxeology' - in a series of essays, Grundprobleme de Nationökonomie (1933). Praxeology, with its stress on individual human action, on the individual's purposive choice of means to arrive at preferred ends, heavily influenced Robbins's methodological work, which English-speaking economists came to regard as outstanding" (IESS).

Carlos Vega is the author of a number of works on South American music and dance, including the popular music of Argentina, the music of the ancient Peruvians, and the origin of creole dances.         Eigenh. Kohlezeichnung (Portrait Klaus Kinskis im Dreiviertelprofil). 475:410 mm. Ohne Ort, [vor 1960?].

1960. Hinter Glas in zeitgenössischem, stark profilierten schwarzen Holzrahmen mit geschnitztem Rankendekor. 60:75 cm.
