London: Allen & Unwin, 1959. 1st Edition, Hobbits, Lord of the Rings. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good Plus. J.R.R. Tolkien. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The Lord of the Rings, Comprised of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, by J.R.R. Tolkien. Published by George Allen and Unwin in 1959, these books are early impressions of the 1st UK Edition, originally published in 1954/1954/1955 respectively. The Fellowship of the Ring is a 8th impression published in 1959. The Two Towers is a 6th impression published in 1959. The Return of the King is a 5th impression also published in 1959. All three books have their correct and original dustjackets in Near Fine condition showing some light fading to the red lettering on the spines of all three books. They show no loss to the edges with no chips or tears. The dustjackets were originally covered with an old style protector, which has preserved them very well, but has left some tape ghosts to the front free endpapers of the last two books. The dustjackets are not price clipped, and have almost no tanning or discoloration to the spines, just the light fading to the red lettering. The books are in Near Fine condition with no offsetting to the endpapers, just the tape ghosts as seen in the photos. A previous owners name to The Fellowship and a gift inscription to the front free endpaper of The Two Towers. The dustjackets are in remarkable condition with no loss or edgewear, only the light fading to the red lettering. The gilt to the spines are all clean and bright. Each book has it's own original foldout map tipped in at the rear, and all are in excellent condition with no tears or misfolds. The topstain is unfaded on The Fellowship, but has faded on the other two books. A custom red leather slipcase to house and protect this wonderful set of books. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested. Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions. Near Fine / Very Good Plus.

        Pura Tessin. Aquarell.

1959. Monogrammiert in Aquarell.
