Edition originale.

        The Caves of Steel

Boardman, London 1954 - First edition first printing Boardman 1954. Rare Hardback in any condition with dust jacket. Book is still tight and square. Boards have bumped corners and markings to both. A very tiny but noticeable bump to upper board, with a hint of bend. Title gilt is very nice with only a couple of minor rubs. Text block is clean, with a few minor spots and very light age toning to edges. The paste downs and flypaper have toning, and flypaper is creased. Feels lightly read. Moderate bumping to head and foot of spine, grades as good condition due to the numerous small issues but is still tight and clean and is close to very good. The unclipped jacket has some loss to front of jacket and minor loss to spine ends. Split at head of joint with colour break creasing and minor loss. Small split to top of upper fore edge. Two dark spots to front, and various chips and rubs, Spine has some minor rubs also. Rear is relatively bright and clean, with only minor rubs to edges. Looks and feels better in the hand than the detailed description can relate. Overall a better than good copy, but too many faults to grade as very good. This copy is not ex-lib, not priced clipped and has no inscriptions. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a quality addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A solid example of this highly collectible and rare first edition first printing title.         The Eye Of Love.

London: Photography, 1954.. First Edition. Oblong octavo. Bound in soft paper boards with photographic self-wraps and scarce original tracing paper jacket, printed in purple. Black and white photographs throughout, with a foreword by Basil Burton. Internally clean. Binding and jacket with trivial wear only. A remarkable survival. This photo essay follows a woman as she returns home, undresses, smokes a cigarette, gets ready to go out, and then heads to an empty hotel bar, where she apparently waits for an acquaintance. The woman is in fact Groebli's wife, Rita, and the collection has rightly been described as both wistful and romantic. Swiss-born, Groebli is known better in Germany, though this collection demonstrates his claim to be a world-class photo essayist.

        River Of No Return

Original movie poster, dimensions 27" by 41". The film was Otto Preminger's only Western. It was shot, with some difficulties, amidst the scenic splendour of the Canadian Rockies. Critical opinion seems divided but not damning. Apparently it looked great on the wide screen. A box office hit. This vibrant one sheet poster features Monroe and co-star Robert Mitchum in a lively clinch. I'm not sure exactly what's going on there...

        Typed letter signed ("C. G. Jung"). Küsnacht-Zürich, 23. VI. 1954.

1954. Large 8vo. 1 p. Addenda. To E. A. Bennet, about disputes among his London disciples: "[...] There is something in that London group I noticed already quite a while ago: a sort of unnatural prestige psychology. The way they handled the situation seems to me awfully immature and clumsy. I can't understand Fordham. The way you dealt with the situation seems to me entirely reasonable and adequate. May I keep the copies of the correspondence you sent me for a while? They might be useful in case of further discussions. I have seen Dr. Philp whom I had met once in your house. I couldn't quite make out what his theological or psychological problems are [...]". - E. A. Bennet had been Jung's foremost advocate in England since the 1930s. - On headed paper; some slight edge damage. Includes a letter to Bennet by C. A. Meier, concerning the controversy Jung discusses in his letter, some letters of response from Bennet to Jung, Meier and others, typescripts of papers by Jung's associate, Toni Wolff, "Some Principles of Dream-Interpretation" (April 1934; 36 ff.) and "A Few Thoughts on the Process of Individuation in Women" (undated; 48 ff.), as well as an obituary brochure for Toni Wolff and some related material.
