A.A. Milne
fine book. Alan Alexander Milne (1925) 'When We Were Very Young', UK first deluxe edition, bound in blue leather (just like the original trade edition which was published in blue cloth), published by Methuen. In addition, an original letter handwritten and signed by author A.A. Milne. This is an extremely rare edition and certainly the least common of the four leather bound Winnie-the-Pooh books issued in a few hundred copies. 'When We Were Very Young' was originally published in 1924 as a regular trade edition only. It was immediately successful and the first printing sold out in one day. The publisher Methuen then decided to issue a deluxe leather bound version in three colours: blue, red, and green. The paper stock of the seventh printing of the trade edition (March 1925) was used for that purpose. In 1926 when 'Winnie-the -Pooh' was published it was issued as a deluxe leather bound edition in three colours as well keeping that tradition for the remaing two Pooh books. Condition: a fine and abolutely beautiful copy. No previous owner's scribbles inside, the leather binding is crsip and clean like on the day of publication. No rubbing to the gilding. Page block edges gilded as called for. The original glassine warpper is present and without any chips or tears, now of course yellowed as over 90 years have passed since publication! The original box is near fine with no structural damage at all and a whiff of foxing and darkening as to be expected. The best condition on the marekt and extremely rare to find as the vast majority of deluxe copies are the second editions which … [Click Below for Full Description]

Hollyband, Claudius and Peter Erondell [ed. M. St. Clare Byrne]
London: Haslewood Books, 1925. First Thus. Fine. Full crushed red morocco with five raised bands to spine. Stamped in gilt with Elizabeth Regina's monogram, rosettes, and crowns on spine and boards; front board featuring interlocking gilt Es at center. All edges and turn-ins brightly gilt. Silk moire endpapers. Blue morocco doublures, with a fine round portrait of Elizabeth I under glass inset at front. Number 74 of 75 copies made on English handmade paper, out of a total print run limited to 725. A beautiful modern edition of Hollyband and Erondell's 16th century dialogues on the proper English home during the reign of Elizabeth I. Both Hollyband and Erondell came to England as Huguenot refugees, writing dialogues about their new homeland that continue to give us insight into the daily lives of Shakespeare and his country people. Rather than focusing on court life or the oft-examined role of theatre on culture, these two pieces address the experiences of everyday people. For these men, the behavior of a boy in school (as well as his meals and his lessons) take precedence; and when considering the ideal dinner party, a citizen should not make things too formal but instead host "a homely affair, lavish of cheer if scant of ceremony." Decorated at the chapter heads with reproductions of contemporary woodcuts, and featuring a glossary of important Elizabethan vocabulary at the rear. A reminder of England's golden age, finely bound and printed in a limited run on English paper. Fine.

Clarence Edward Felker (photographer)
1925-1926, Easton, PA. The album features over sixty black and white photographs of the construction of Fisher Field (later named Lafayette Stadium) the football field of Lafayette College in Easton, PA. Fisher Field was named after Thomas Fisher, Lafayette College Class of 1888, who almost single-handily raised and donate the funds to construct the field. Construction for the 18,000 seat stadium began in 1925 and was finished in 1926. The entire construction process was captured by photographer Clarence Felker, from the arrival of the construction materials by rail, to the cranes and workmen constructing the field to the first few games played there in September 1926. Two of the photographs have been pasted together to form a panoramic view of the field just prior to construction. This panoramic view folds out of the album. The photographs themselves are canvas backed, and the majority of them are identified with "Felker Photo, Easton, PA" and the date. A few of the photographs lack this metadata, and one has "Johnson Photo" on it. When the photograph depicts a football game, noted on the canvas backing is the final score of the game. Clarence Felker was a commercial photographer who was perhaps most known for capturing the downtown section of Easton, PA. He owned his own studio in Easton, PA called Felker Studios, which was first opened by his father-in-law, Charles J. Momberger, in the 1880s. Black leather covers with gilt text "Lafayette Stadium, H. C. Booz" (alumnus 1895), String binding. Measures 11 1/4" x 8" Clarence Edward Felker was born on November 21, 1883 to Wil … [Click Below for Full Description]

F. Scott Fitzgerald
Charles Scribner's Sons. F. Scott Fitzgerald. THE GREAT GATSBY. 1925. 1st. ed., 1st. Printing. Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, 1925. First Edition, first issue with all of the proper textual faults that signify a first printing of one of the classic American novels of the twentieth century. A solid very good copy with tight unbroken hinges. The only marking to the interior is a former owner name to the front free endpaper. A small crease to the lower corner of the dedication page. Pages are toned, as usual. Corners are mildly bumped. Boards are just showing at the lower corners. There is some light wear to the spine ends with a few tiny, 1/8" tears. Spine gilt is dull but quite readable. Spine cloth is also just a bit sunned. To the rear cover there is a 3" very light colored stain along the lower left (fore edge). This may be difficult to see in the picture. Below the "F" in Fitzgerald there is a 1/8" light stain. A very minimal bump to the upper, front cover edge. Hey, I am making an attempt to describe every flaw. I am happy to answer any questions or send any additional photographs. [Attributes: First Edition]

[Various locations in Chile, 1925. Very good.. 47 photos on [24] leaves, each image approximately 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Oblong folio. Patterned cloth album, string tied; string perished, grey paper leaves loose. Boards lightly worn, slight dampstaining to lower corner of front cover. Contemporary typed letter, signed, pasted to inside of front cover. Images clean and crisp, very minor wear and soiling internally. Photograph album of striking images of Chilean scenery taken by accomplished amateur photographer Herbert Telge during an auto trip through the countryside. The handsome and well-composed photographs depict common people with ox-drawn carts traversing country roads; a group of five men and women, presumed to be Telge's travelling companions, posing with their automobile in scenic locales; a man seated beneath an enormous cactus; country villages; scenery ranging from palm trees to the Andes; rural farmsteads and churches; and a series of ten or so photographs featuring Chile's famous Villarrica volcano and its surroundings. It is seen here snow-capped, looming beyond the lake and photographed from a number of different spots to highlight the charming rural scenery. The album is accompanied by a typed letter signed by the "Jefe de la Seccion Turismo," Fernando Orrego P. The letter is dated 1928 and addressed to Edgardo Telge of Weber & Co. in Valparaiso, indicating that Orrego admires a group of photographs of various locales in Chile taken by Telge's son, and would like to obtain a set of negatives for the use of the tourism ministry. November 1954 in Ebersteinburg bei Baden-Baden), deutscher Dirigent und Komponist. "Sehr geehrter Herr Kollege!

Eugen Rentsch Verlag, 1925. Originalausgabe. Meisterhaft gestaltetes Werk u.a.
