SONNEY, LOUIS S.
Charles Williams & Son], 1924., [Los Angeles. First edition. 7 3/4" x 5 1/4" original pictorial wrappers, 64 pp., introduction, illustrated from photographs, portraits. Roy Gardner was born in Trenton, Missouri in 1886, and lived in Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek, Colorado while in his teens. In 1908 he was working in the mines in Bisbee, Arizona where he was injured in an accident. Gardner tried smuggling arms across the border into Mexico, then he tried life as a boxer, and finally began a career as a robber. The author, a lawman who captured Gardner, states that "he was one of the greatest mail robbers and bandits of his time, and yet never guilty of firing a single shot at a man, or hurting a single person in the least." Six Guns 2063 lists a printing with no date or place and with only 32 pages. There is no mention of this printing. Faint evidence of a vertical fold with minor to light wear, else a very good copy. A rare item! [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]

Agatha Christie. Signed copy.
London.: John Lane The Bodley Head., 1924. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/Facsimile. A good only copy and SIGNED by Agatha Christie directly onto the title page. 310 plus 2 age and tanned appropriate pages with a few marked with smudges. No inscriptions and no loose pages. Dated 1924 on the copyright page. No other dates. First UK edition and therefore a difficult title to find. Included is the bookplate of the author Richard Adams with the unique rabbit print. This book therefore must be one from his personal collection. The outer brown boards with black lettering to the front and spine and art deco border is heavily worn. Faded spine and rubbing along the fold and to the top and bottom of the boards. Comes with a precise first edition facsimile wrapper which does increase the appearance of this book. Signed by the great Agatha Christie and with the bookplate of Richard Adams is therefore a one-off and as such highly collectible.

Reith, J. C. W. (John Charles Walsham) - Broadcast Over Britain - 1924 UK first edition published by Hodder and Stoughton Ltd The book is firmly bound in the publisher's clean blue cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, the extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. Adding some interesting provenance, to the front board there is the gilt stamp of 'The Cunard Steam Ship Company Limited'. The text block is slightly toned and dusty. The dust jacket is the original and correctly priced at 6/- net to the spine, it is a little marked and rubbed with minor chips and short closed tears to the edges, also slight browning to the spine. An unusually good example of one of the earliest works on the subject, written by the fascinating, troubled and troubling Reith, who dominated the formative years of British Broadcasting as Managing Director of the BBC. Uncommon in the dust jacket. [Attributes: First Edition; In Dust Jacket]

ESCHYLE
(1924) Carteret IV, 151. [Click Below for Full Description]
