Flight. A Journal Devoted to the Interests, Practice, and Progress of Aerial Locomotion and Transport. A virtually complete run of early issues of the world's oldest continuously published aviation news magazine.

Printed and published by the St. Martin's Publishing, London 1910-1912 for the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom., Soft cover, Book Condition: Very GoodA set comprising 99 individual weekly issues (plus three duplicates) spanning August 1910 to June 1912 (Vol. II, No. 32 - Vol. IV, No. 26), missing only the issue for 7th January 1911 (Vol. III, No. 1) and 21st June 1912 (Vol. IV, No. 25). Stapled wrappers, staples rusted and occasionally defective with some front and rear wraps detached (but all present). A single issue somewhat creased and nicked with torn and partially defective wrappers, but the remainder really quite bright and well preserved copies, housed in four custom-made boxes which exhibit some signs of damp externally but in general have done an excellent job of protecting and preserving the contents. A truly fascinating timeline of early twentieth century aviation, illustrated with photographs and plans, and recording many notable milestones including accounts of the first mid-air collision (Milan, October 1910); Pierre Prier's first non-stop flight from Paris to London; Henri Seimet's first non-stop flight from London to Paris; Harriet Quimby's English Channel crossing; and the death of Wilbur Wright in May 1912.

A very influential collection of poetry by young poets, this being the first appearance for several of them. One of 500 numbered copies, the first 50 have been signed by most of the contributors, this is copy number 12, Signed by the following contributors: Joyce Kilmer, Ludwig Lewisohn, Edwin Markham, Reginald Wright Kauffman, James Oppenheim, Louis Untermeyer, George Sylvester Viereck and several others. Rare. With: The Younger Quire. NY: Moods Publishing Company 1911. 12mo. Near fine. Introduction by Daffydowndilly. Japanese vellum over boards gilt, issued without dustwrapper. Lord's Oregon Laws Showing All the Laws of a General Nature in Force in the State of Oregon Including the Sessions of 1909, and the Laws and Constitutional Amendments Adopted at the General Election of 1910. Published by Authority of an Act Approved March 19, 1909. Salem: Willis S. Duniway, State Printer, 1910. Three volumes. Contemporary buckram, red and black lettering pieces. Negligible shelfwear and soiling. Small chip to title page of Volume I, interiors otherwise pristine. A well-preserved set. * "In the prosecution of the work a systematic search was made of all session laws and codes from the beginning and the results carefully checked with previous compilations. The laws printed have been carefully read and compared with the original and authentic source, the enrolled bills, thus securing for the first time it is believed, an accurate text. The general order of the Bellinger and Cotton compilation has been preserved, as being most familiar, and therefore most convenient to the bar and public in general, and indeed it has been the plan to make changes from that excellent work only when a clear and plain reason required it....Special pains have been taken to bring the annotations down to date....": Preface, Volume I [iii].         Photograph album, a Pictorial Record of the installation of Native American artefacts from the Collection of George G. Heye at the University of Pennsylvania Museum]

[Philadelphia, n.d., ca. 1910] - Interesting visual record of the installation of the George G. Heye collection of Native American artifacts at the University of Pennsylvania Museum, where Heye's collection (comprising some 10,000 items) was on deposit from 1910 to 1916. A small portion of Heye's collection (1,200 items chiefly from the Pacific Northwest) was donated to Penn as a gesture of goodwill when Heye later moved the majority of the collection to New York, where he established the Museum of the American Indian in upper Manhattan under the auspices of the Heye Foundation. This collection forms the nucleus of the National Museum of the American Indian. The first dozen photographs depict the exhibition cases prepared for the collection during construction and with the exhibits in place under the heading of North American Ethnography. The remaining photographs feature items from the collection, including a buffalo robe with drawings, sacred medicine bundles, a dance shield, baby carrier, moccasins, beaded sashes, a drum, ceremonial masks, wampum belts, and more. Two of the most interesting artifacts are a woman's ghost dance dress (Cheyenne), and Lone Dog's Winter Count (Yanktonais Nakota Sioux), a pictograph calendar recording events from 1800 to 1871 that remains among the prized possessions of the National Museum of the American Indian. The Winter Count is shown front and back as well as mounted on the wall in the museum. The photographer may have been William Witte (b. 1873), the University of Pennsylvania's museum photographer from ca. 1902 to 1937. A beautiful and interesting record of the earliest museum of the American Indian (NATIVE AMERICAN) Oblong folio. 34 original photographs mounted on black paper album leaves, typewritten legend. Black cloth flexible boards. Front board and first mount (legend) detached. Photographs fine. Some marginal chipping to edges of mounts [Attributes: Hard Cover]

French manuscript of approximately 180 pages teeming with bawdy songs and illustrations

ca. 1900s-1910.. "Small quarto graph-paper notebook containing the lyrics of approx. 70 songs and illustrated with upwards of 100 bawdy illustrations in color pencil and watercolor; the binding mostly broken, one leaf with a long tear (no loss), early and last leaves loose, one other illustration cut away; the illustrations themselves are up and down: some seem quite professional while a number of others are amateurish and unfinished. Some are full- or nearly full-page, others smaller. There is a distinct style to the fashion which helps us date the manuscript, and one illustration is dated 1907. We assume the songs to be published although we have not found any evidence of that during a limited search. "
