Wonder Map of the Wonder Mining District...Map title: Revised Map of U.S. Patent & Location Surveys in Wonder Mining District Churchill County Nevada

Wonder, Nevada.: D. H. Blossom.. 1907.. Color folding map attached to card stock covers, 7 1/2 x 4 inches unfolding to 30 x 32 1/2 inches, depicting the Wonder Mining District [Nevada]. There are several breaks in the folds of the fragile paper, while a dogleg tear at the top of the map (archival tape repair) measures 2 x 2 1/2 inches. A congruent tear in the top margin measures two inches. The map shows the modest Wonder townsite situated in a vast landscape of mining claims, depicted in various colors. The Index on the map documents well over 100 claims. Wonder flourished between 1906 and 1919, with a 1907 population estimated at 1200 persons. The sum of $6,350,000 is attached to the Wonder District's recorded production in gold and silver. Web resources regarding Wonder and its history can be had at "Nevada Mining and You," a pdf created by the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology. (The pdf provides a photo of the Wonder townsite circa 1910); also, the Wikipedia entry "Wonder, Nevada" provides useful details regarding the mining town. See also Hugh Shamberger's "The Story of Wonder, Churchill County, Nevada," (Nevada Historical Press, 1974). There is only one listing for Blossom's map on WorldCat. This scarce map, of considerable interest with regard to Nevada mining history, is in very good clean condition, with issues noted. .

Anatomie und Ätiologie der Genitalprolapse beim Weibe.

. Wien und Leipzig, Wilhelm Braumüller, 1907, 8°, XII, 273, (1) pp., 44 Abb. und 60 Tafeln; feiner Leinenband mit eingebundener Titelbroschur; eigenhändige Widmung "Herrn Prof.D. R. Paltauf in dankbarer Verehrung die Verfasser.". Erste Ausgabe- Bedeutendes Widmungsexemplar an Paltauf!

Leiden, E. J. Brill, 1907.. 8vo. (289)-405, 406-545 pp. With 2 folding maps and a folding table. Original printed wrappers.. First edition. - In 1645, Captain Cornelis Roobacker set out from Bandar Abbas with two small Dutch ships for the first trading mission to Basra, which could only be reached with small vessels in the shallow waters of the upper end of the Gulf. Three logbooks of this expedition have survived in the Dutch General State Archives; the only one of these to be published is the logbook no. 280a, here edited for the first and only time by A. Hotz. Among the plates are a modern map of the Gulf region as well as a 17th century Dutch nautical chart which the editor errouneously attributed to Roobacker. "Roobacker's ships had English charts on board, but Roobacker complained that they were very inaccurate [... He] made a chart of his travels between Laraq and Basra, with marks of depths and accurate notes on geographic latitude. This chart shows his progress up to Bubiyan" (Slot, The Origins of Kuwait [1991], p. 18). - Occasional slight foxing; spine broken; plates loose. - B. J. Slot, The Arabs of the Gulf 1602-1784, p. 11.

        Set of 1906-1907 Historic Photographs

1907. No Binding. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Interesting and undocumented series of original photoraphs. Photos depict frontier development on a landscape which resembles eastern or central Washington/Oregon: railroad tracks and bridges, newly constructed buildings, a few faces of those involved, what appears to be a mill. A large river is in many of the photos. A great research project in the making. Images are a bit curled along edges, faded in places. Images are dated in the negative, marked in pencil with a particular order.
