Drebbel, Cornelius.
Frankfurt Ising 1715 - (17 x 10 cm). 118 S. Lederband der Zeit. Seltene erste deutsche Ausgabe. Besides a machine for perpetual motion. and all kinds of other inventions mentioned by Monconys, he is credited with an incubator, microscope, pump, clock, and thermometer, but he probably only introduced these into England. He also invented machines for producing rain, lightning, thunder, and extreme cold. He invented a submarine (submerged tank) which he navigated from Westminster to Greenwich. Drebbel's main idea was that the elements can be transmuted into one another. The sun's rays turn air into fire and water into air, but in the cold upper atmospher air condeses to water" (Partington). - Exlibris. Müller Johann Sebastian (1715 - 1785) Nuremberg
Artist: Müller Johann Sebastian ( - 1785) Nuremberg; date: ca 1820, 1715. - technic: Lithography; - colorit: colored; - condition: Perfect condition; - size (in cm): 29,5 x 42,5; - description: The Stockholm Palace or The Royal Palace (Swedish: Stockholms slott or Kungliga slottet) is the official residence and major royal palace of the Swedish monarch (the actual residence of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia is at Drottningholm Palace). Stockholm Palace is located on Stadsholmen, in Gamla stan in the capital, Stockholm. After the Ice Age, at around 8,000 BC, there had already been vast migrations towards the present-day Stockholm area, but as temperatures dropped, inhabitants moved away towards the South. Thousands of years later, as the ground thawed, the climate became tolerable, and the lands became fertile, some life moved back to the North. At the intersection of the Baltic Sea and lake Mälaren is an archipelago site where the Old Town of Stockholm was first occupied in about 1000 AD by Vikings. Vikings had a positive trade impact on the land because of the trade routes they created.

He is best known for his useful commentaries on the Enchiridium of Epictetus and on Aristotle's Categoriae, Physica, De Caelo and De Anima. He had to flee Athens, to escape anti-pagan measures taken by the Roman emperor Justinian I, who closed down the Platonist school. His commentary on the Enchiridium is propaedeutic. § The Enchiridium, in English Manual or Handbook, of the Greek Stoic philosopher Epictetus, ca. 50-130 A.D., is in fact a later summary, or epitome, of his collected lectures, also called diatribes, which had been published by his pupil Arrianus. Like the Stoics Epictetus wanted to make man free and independent of the vicissitudes of fortune. BRITISH ELECTIONS]
Leicester, 1715. 10pp. Disbound. Early stab holes in left margin. Mild foxing. Untrimmed and unopened. Discovered in a bound volume of ca. 1713-15 British petitions to Parliament, this is a rare and early example of British lobbying literature, which first began proliferating in the lobby of the House of Commons during the major changes in British government of the mid-1710s. ESTC records four copies: at the British Library, Oxford, the National Library of Wales, and the Folger Library. A fascinating political pamphlet relating to charges of fraud, intimidation, and violence in the Leicestershire election of February 1714. The author of the pamphlet rebuts recent charges made in the "Flying Posts and other printed News Papers" that William Baresby, Under-Sheriff and overseer of the election, was attacked by partisans of the two winning candidates, forced from the polling station, and then sent fleeing with a bounty on his head. It is responded that numerous witnesses can verify that no such violence occurred and that Baresby, in fact, had attempted to commit voting fraud in favor of his friends, George Ashby and Thomas Bird, who were losing by an overwelming margin (and ultimately lost) to the baronets Sir Thomas Cave and Sir Jeffrey Palmer. Baresby's injuries, further, are said to have been caused by a drunken night at a pub: after cordially drinking wine with the baronets, Baresby "left the Court, and went to a Publick House hard by, call'd the Round-Head's Inn, with some of his Friends, he Supt there, and drank plentifully of strong Ale, and was very merry; and a young W … [Click Below for Full Description]

'The best known of his apologetical works was the Short Method with the Deists (1694), which.became a classic theological resigns to deism and continued to be reprinted well into the nineteenth century' (DNB). It defended Trinitarian orthodoxy, the principle of satisfaction and the historicity of the biblical miracles. The second part on The Jews (dated 1689) reiterates the arguments for the Christian Gospels fulfilling the Jewish law but also draws parallels between the Jews and the reformed protestant religions which rejected episcopacy. Although published anonymously, these two works are known to have been written by Charles Leslie (1650-1722), a nonjuring Church of Ireland clergyman, who later resided in England. Artist: Chatelain Henri Abraham ca ; issued in: Amsterdam; date: ca1715 - - technic: Copper print; - colorit: colored; - condition: Perfect condition; - size (in cm): 38,5 x 43,5; - description: Map shows Asia minor with Turkey and the black sea surrounded with a description of the history.; - vita of the artist: Henri Abraham Chatelain (1684 - 1743) was a Huguenot pastor of Parisian origins. He lived consecutively in Paris, St. Martins, London (c. 1710), The Hague (c. 1721) and Amsterdam (c. 1728). He is best known as a Dutch cartographer and more specifically for his cartographic contribution in the seminal seven volume Atlas Historique, published in Amsterdam between 1705 and 1720. Innovative for its time, the Atlas Historique combined fine engraving and artwork with scholarly studies of geography, history, ethnology, heraldry, and cosmography. Some scholarship suggests that the Atlas Historique was not exclusively compiled by Henri Chatelain, as is commonly believed, but rather was a family enterprise involving Henri, his father Zacharie and his brother, also Zacharie.
