1714. (Brevarium Romanum) Psalterium Dispositum per Hebdomadamcum ordinario officii de temporeDominica ad Matutinum Hardcover This auction is for an early copy of Brevarium Romanum dating from 1714. It appears to be complete in the original binding. On the front page and main page, handwritten notes with dates from the 1830 and 1847 . The back end pages have some ancient writing on them. This book was used, but not abused. There is normal wear to the corners of the binding. The first page has been put back in with some sort of tape at one time. The binding is loose from the pages, but there are no pages loose, and the books integrity is still there. It is written in Latin. The pages have some corner wear/binding, but this is minor, I feel, for the age of this book. It measures 5.1" tall by 3" wide by approx. 1.7" thick and weight as 500 grams. Pages from the sides are in gold color have faded over the years Pope Urban VIII (Latin: Urbanus VIII; April 5, 1568 - July 29, 1644) was born Maffeo Barberini, who served as Pope from August 6, 1623 until his death. It was Pope's operation that managed to maintain the sovereignty of the Pope's state during the turbulent years of the Thirty Years War, and was the last to increase its territory by military means. As a Renaissance educator, he generously supported the artists. However, his adventures and extravagances plunged his country into heavy debts, leading to the brink of economic collapse. 1714. Finely detailed map of the Bordeaux region of France by Guillaume de LIsle. Shows the French coast at the Bay of Biscay, the Garonne River and the port city of Bordeaux. Guillaume de L' Isle was the leading French cartographer of the early 18th century. He was known for both his strong belief in the importance of accuracy, as well as his prolific output of over 100 maps during his lifetime. Guillaume de L'Isle was born into a family of French cartographers, and was the pupil of mathematician and astronomer Jean Dominique Cassini. It is said that de L'Isle drew his first map at the age of nine. His first atlas, which he published at the age of 25, made an unprecedented effort to both correct fallacies of earlier maps, such as the depiction of California as an Island, and to add current data to maps. De'Isle was elected to the French Academie Royale des Sciences at the age of 27 and was later appointed to the highest honor as Premier Geographe du Roi (1718). His critical approach to the maps of his predecessors, backed by his training under J. D. Cassini, earned him recognition as the first scientific cartographer and the foremost geographer of his age. 19 x 24.75

Pieter VANDER AA (1659 - 1733)
Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, engraved frontispiece, and thirty-two engraved plates. Including two engraved dedication leaves. Without plate numbered 16. The plates present are numbered 1 (being the frontispiece), 2 (being the title page), plate 3 is unnumbered, then the plates run as 4-15, 17-32. Collation for this work varies.
