Vauban Sébastien Le Prestre (Marchese di)
S.n.t, 1708. Scrive Schumpeter: "This is one of the outstanding performances in the field of public finance, unsurpassed, before or after, in the neatness and cogency of the argument. . Vauban rose fully to those heights, trodden by so few, from which fiscal policy is seen to be a tool of economic therapeutics, the ultimate result of a comprehensive survey of the economic process. With Gladstonian vision he realized that fiscal measures affect the economic organism right to its cells and that the method of r … [Click Below for Full Description]

MAIER, Michael
Frankfurt, G. H. Oehrling, 1708. 4to. 2 Bl., 153 S. (T4 weiß). Mit 50 Textkupfern von Matthäus Merian d.Ä. Halbpergament d. Zeit (beschabt, fleckig u. bestoßen, Vorderdeckel angebrochen u. Fehlstelle im Bezug). Erste deutsche Ausgabe (Übersetzer G.A.K. nicht aufgelöst). [Click Below for Full Description]

The second part with a separate titlepage, with sphere on title. The Projet d'une Dixme Royale is an outstanding work in the field of public finance. Its two most notable features are its understanding of the central role of fiscal policy in economic reform - the result of an exceptionally comprehensive grasp of the economic process - and its use of detailed numerical data to substantiate conclusions. Schumpeter called the work 'unsurpassed, before or after, in the neatness and cogency of the argument . Purposefull marshalling of all the available data was the essence of his analysis. Nobody ever understood better the true relation between facts and argument. It is this that makes him an economic classic in the eulogistic sense of the work, and a forerunner of modern tendencies' (Schumpeter, History of Economic analysis, p. 204). [Attributes: Hard Cover]

VAUBAN, (S. LE PRESTRE) DE.
No place, 1708. Small ornament on title. With 4 folding tables. viii, 270 pp. 12mo. Contemporary marbled calf, spine gilt with raised bands, joints lightly rubbed, head of spine damaged, front joint at top split, gilt lettering, red edges. INED 4397; Kress 2606; cf.: Goldsmiths 4432; Stourm 63; Bourgeois & André 6702; Carpenter, Economic bestsellers X, 12. Collation: *4, A-L12, M4 (last blank). It is this that makes him an economic classic in the eulogistic sense of the work, and a forerunner of modern tendencies.' (Schumpeter, History of Economic analysis, p. 204). [Attributes: Hard Cover]

[Click Below for Full Description]
