The handwritten notes on the front end papers, which are in French, may be his notes/commentary, if not from the original owner. Overall, this book is in excellent condition given its age. Cervantes Saavedra - Fernández de Avellaneda, Alonso,
Londres, Mortier, 1707. Nouvelle Edition revuë & corrigée. 13,5 x 8 cm.

Frankfurt a.M, Gleditsch, 1707. 8 Bll., 112 S. Pappband d. Zt.

Rarissima. A very rare map taken from Coronelli's "Teatro della Guerra diviso in XXXXVIII parti" published in Venice (though the front page says Naples) between 1706 and 1709. The collection contains hundreds of views, geographic maps and sea charts depicting the entire world. Ermanno Ermao, who studied Coronelli's production, wrote "it is not easy to determine how many and which are the volumes that belong to the collection ". The volume that describes the Kingdom of Naples has been published in 1707. Some of the maps derive from those already published in the Isolario in 1696, with minor changes; nonetheless, the majority of the views has been realized exclusively for this collection. Copper engraving, in perfect condition. Extremely rare.

World map stub renewed, one plate trimmed a little close shaving a few characters. 300, [17]pp. London, W. Botham for James Knapton, ?It was Funnell, not Dampier, who really circumnavigated the globe on this voyage, as Dampier proceeded only as far as the South Seas. The purpose of the expedition was to harass the Spaniards and take plunder from vessels and towns in South America. Its failure was due to the differences that arose between them. Funnell arrived in England before Dampier and seized the opportunity to compose a relation of his voyage: a task for which he was poorly qualified. His narrative contained much that was disapproved of by Dampier, who immediately after published a Vindication of his voyage, pointing out the misrepresentations of Funnell? (Hill). Funnell accompanied William Dampier as an officer on his second circumnavigation, aboard the 26-gun ship St George. Much in the style of Dampier, his account is replete with observations on natural history and augmented with charming engravings of flora and fauna. Hill, 664; Sabin, 26213; ESTC T52634.
