DICTYS DE CRETE et DARES LE PHRYGIEN
Amsterdam, Georges Gallet 1702 - in-4, [41] ff. n. ch. [Click Below for Full Description]

Tagli a spruzzo. Testatine, capilettera elegantemente decorati a racemi e fregi tipografici n.t. ornati in xilografia. [Click Below for Full Description]

- Kol.

Leg. piena pelle coeva, dorsetto ornato in oro a 4 nervi. Ottimo esemplare. "Perhaps the best reason for doubting the autenticity of "The Secrets of Women" is that Albert seems to be cited in it... It is, however, somewhat difficult to distinguish the text of the original treatise from that of a commentary upon it which both accompanies and envelopes it in both the manuscripts and printed editions" (Thorndike, II/pp. 740-41). Caillet, Manuel Bibl. Sciences Occultes, I/n. 129 l'ed. del 1655 e questa). Ferguson, Books of Secrets, I/p. 16 e Index, p. 6. INTERNET/04722

Internally clean. Very good. First English edition. Johan De Witt (1625-1672) was the first minister of the states of Holland and West Friesland. This work is a comprehensive review of commerce, industry, and political affairs in the late 17th century. The author defends free market principles and toleration of all who profess different creeds. He suggests that those who are discontented with their lot may seek a new fortune as colonists in the Americas or the East Indies. 18mo secolo
