Frankerae: Leon Strickium, 1702. 12mo in 6s. Latin text. [14] 276, [28] . Lamberus Bos (1670-1717) was a Dutch scholar who was professor of Greek who wrote on the Greek accents and syntax. This work is considered his most important and was only translated in an abridged edition in 1830 by John Seager. It is not one of those made available by the Post-Reformation Digital Library. His thorough knowledge of classical Greek, the New Testament and later Greek Christian writings allowed him to compare and contrast the variations in Greek syntax. Title page in red and black, bound in full vellum, soiled, title and shelf number in brown ink on spine. very short split to lower joint, free library perforated stamp. A very good copy.

Nova Zembla is depicted correctly as an island, but the northeastern part of Siberia, the Chukchi peninsula and Kamchatka are missing. A portion of Australia is shown as Nova Hollandia with New Guinea shown separate from Terra des Papous. The title is surrounded with a beautifully engraved cartouche, and the scale of miles is topped by the symbol for the Society of Jesus. Le frontispice est le même que celui de l'édition précédente avec le nom de Jean Coutanoz, imprimeur à Lyon. Curieux poème en vers burlesques dont le sujet ressemble à la « danse des morts ». L'auteur y fait dialoguer des gens de toutes conditions, mourants qui se défendent contre la Mort qui attaque. La verve et l'énergie de ce texte, plein de curieux détails sur les mœurs du temps, rappellent les anciens fabliaux du Moyen-Age ; le "Faut mourir !", premier cri d'égalité poussé par les pauvres en proie aux souffrances d'ici-bas. La première édition fut publiée à Lyon en 1655. (Caillet-5480). Malgré ses nombreuses éditions, l'ouvrage est devenu rare. Petit accroc à la coiffe inférieure, titre effacé. Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Homann Heirs'. Following the long period of Dutch domination, the Homann family became the most important map publishers in Germany in the eighteenth century, the business being founded by J.B. Homann in Nuremberg about the year 1702. Soon after publishing his first atlas in 1707 he became a member of the Berlin academy of Sciences and in 1715 he was appointed Geographer to the Emperor. After the founder's death in 1724, the firm was continued under the direction of his son until 1730 and was then bequeathed to his heirs on the condition that it trades under the name of Homann Heirs. The firm remained in being until the next century and had a wide influence on map publishing in Germany. Apart from the atlases the firm published a very large number of individual maps. The Homanns produced a Neuer Atlas in 1714, a Grosser Atlas in 1737, and an Atlas Maior with about 300 maps in 1780. Er war ab 1758 Professor für Geschichte an der Wiener Universität u. wurde 1759 von der Studienhofkommission mit der Oberaufsicht über die Gymnasien betraut. Musical manuscript in English, on paper written in a single cursive hand in brown ink, four staves to a page. 12 leaves: blank, title, dedication, 10 pp. of music on 6 leaves, 3 blanks. Dedication to Princess Anne on second recto. In a contemporary morocco binding, exuberantly tooled and gilt by Robert Steel, arguably the finest binder in England at the time; board edges gilt, marbled endleaves, all edges gilt. An exquisite manuscript musical part book, composed and bound for royal presentation on New Years' Day (then celebrated on Lady Day, March 25). Inscribed to Princess Anne of Denmark, soon to be Queen Anne of England. The pieces are labelled "Overture" and "Hornpipe", with one passage indicated "very slow". Signed "J.L." at the end. - The violinist, singer and composer Lenton joined the ensemble of royal musicians, known as the King's Musick, in 1681 under Charles II and played at the coronations of James II and of William and Mary (cf. New Grove X, 665). As violinist, Lenton accompanied William to Holland in 1691 and contributed to the royal musical repertoire. He wrote incidental music for some dozen plays between 1682 and 1705 and accumulated the offices of Gentleman Extraordinary at the Royal Chapel (1685) and Groom of the Vestry (1708). The binder Robert Steel (fl. 1668-1711) apprenticed with Samuel Mearne and took possession of his tools after his death in 1686. La Haye, Anna Beek, [1702]. 383 x 470 mm. Superbe plan figurant l'attaque de la ville de Kaiserswerth, située sur la rive droite du Rhin dans l'Electorat de Cologne. La ville, qui était alors une place-forte défendue par les Français, fut assiégée en 1702 lors de la Guerre de Succession d'Espagne. Le plan montre les attaques de l'armée du Saint-Empire, commandée par le comte de Nassau, entre les mois de mai et de juin 1702, ainsi que les batteries encerclant la ville. Après deux mois de résistance héroïque, le marquis de Blainville finit par capituler le 15 juin 1702. Le titre est inscrit sur une bannière flottante. Le cartouche des légendes est décoré d'attributs militaires. Le nord est placé à droite du plan. Kaiserswerth est aujourd'hui un quartier rattaché à la ville de Düsseldorf. Anna Beeck publia de nombreux plans de batailles et de sièges durant la Guerre de Succession d'Espagne entre 1697 et 1717. Ses cartes se trouvent souvent dans des atlas composites, n'ayant pas elle-même publié d'atlas. Pierre Husson lui succéda en 1717. Très bel exemplaire brillamment colorié à l'époque.
