- Antique print, titled: 'Guilelmus Henricus D.G. princeps Auriacus.' - Portrait of William III of Orange. Mezzotint engraving on laid paper. Description: Nice, early impression. Ref: Hollstein 65.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Gerard Valck' after 'Sir Peter Lely'. Gerard Valck / Gerardus Valk (1652-1726) was an engraver and a printseller in Amsterdam. He was specialized in cartography and globes. His Celestial and Earth globes were innovative, based on the latest scientific information with less text and images, while his competitors sticked with the Blaeu designs based on Tycho Brahe. As such the Valck/Schenk firm gained an absolute monopoly in globe-making and selling that were sold throughout the 18th c. Sir Peter Lely(1618-1680) was a painter ofDutchorigin, whose career was nearly all spent in England, where he became the dominant portrait painter to the court. Condition: Very good, given age. No margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: PCO-C2-12 The overall size is ca. 5.6 x 7.8 inch. Brusoni Girolamo
Bartolomeo Zappata, 1680. Volume in folio antico (30x21 cm), legatura coeva in piena pergamena (minime mancanze agli angoli esterni), titolo manoscritto ab antiquo al dorso, bianca, frontespizio con impresa tipografica in silografia, prefazione, sommario degli argomenti di ciascun libro, 8 cc., 1082 pp.. Testatine, iniziali e cul-de-lampe ornati.

Pp. (12) 216. Unito a: CORVINUS JOHANNES ARNOLDUS. Posthumus Pacianus; seu definitiones, iuris utriusque viri Cl. Julii Paci a Beriga IC... Amstelodami, apud Ludovicum Elzevirium, 1652. Cm. 13, pp. (12) 499 (79). C … [Click Below for Full Description]

Such cities of present day southern Belgium as Mons (the capital of Hainaut), Ath, Tournai and Charleroi are engraved in detail. Also the northern French centers of Valeniciennes, CambraI and Quesnoy are represented. This map covers the area as far west as Flanders, as far east as Brabant and south to Picardy. Description: This original antique map was published ca. 1680.Artists and Engravers: For nearly a century the members of the Visscher family were important art dealers and map publishers in Amsterdam. The founder of the business, C. J. Visscher, had premises near to those of Pieter van den Keere and Jodocus Hondius whose pupil he may have been. From about 1620 he designed a number of individual maps, including one of the British Isles, but his first atlas consisted of maps printed from plates bought from van den Keere and issued as they stood with some additions of his own, including historical scenes of battles and sieges for which he had a high reputation. Some maps bear the latinized form of the family name: Piscator. After Visscher's death his son and grandson, both of the same name, issued a considerable number of atlases, constantly revised and brought up to date but most of them lacki … [Click Below for Full Description]
