All the title pages bear the Richard Marriott, 1678, imprint. Spine slightly darkened & rubbed, with lettering and rules dull, shallow chip across head; joints (but not inner hinges) cracked and covers are still firmly attached; only occasional minor foxing; frontispiece portrait trimmed a little close in the fore edge; corner crease to one leaf; else a VG clean, tight and unworn copy, no owner names. Walton's Life of Sanderson contains at the end Dr. Thomas Pierce's letter to Walton as well another from the Bishop of Lincoln, and an errata page. The errata were most often corrected in Walton's hand, but not in this copy. Sanderson's "Judgment concerning submission to usurpers" (Wing S607) was not issued separately. It's imprint is the variant (usual) ""Printed for Richard Marriott" Wing W667. Pforzheimer 1053. The book was printed by Samuel Roycroft and the portrait was engraved by Robert White. Pergamentband der Zeit (Einband angestaubt und leicht fleckig). *VD17 39:146639U (im Gegensatz zu 75:704881T ohne das etc. nach Krämer); dort mit Schlüsselseiten und Fingerprint; in beiden VD17-Bänden fehlt das hier eingebundene letzte dreisprachige Blatt \"Ephes.III.v.2.\" - seltene Erstausgabe. - Matthias Kramer (um 1640 in Köln geboren, um 1727/30 in Erlangen gestorben) wirkte in Nürnberg. Die NDB schreibt: \"Nicht so sehr wissenschaftlicher Ehrgeiz stand bei ihm im Vordergrund, sondern vor allem das praktische Bedürfnis, fremdsprachige Wörterbücher für die Verständigung der Reisenden zu schaffen. Bei Kramer ist eine deutliche Lösung von den Humanisten festzustellen, die, dem Lateinischen verpflichtet, in ihren Lexika einen zum Teil veralteten Wortschatz weiterschleppten. Auch bei Kramer wird viel Altes weitergetragen, ungefähr die Hälfte der deutschen Lemmata sind aus früheren Wörterbüchern entlehnt.
