Als handliche Taschenausgabe war die vorliegende vor allem in der juristischen Ausbildung verbreitet. Later rebacked (19th century?) with spine in six compartments, raised bands, gilt rules, leather lettering piece, gilt. The boards are cracked and edgeworn, spine with wear to the surface, and part of the lettering piece has been neatly replaced, title page remargined at an early date, else this is a very good copy in a sound binding. Bound without the Imprimatur leaf. This is the first complete edition of Spelman's great work; he published the first part of the Glossary in 1626, which covered the letteres A-L only. Text in double columns, woodcut initials; title page in red and black; text in Latin. Wing S4925. ESTC R14937. Very good.

Book is in a FINE condition; cover is nice without wear except a few light brown stains here and there. Internally FINE too , very clean, tight and solid, without any noticeable wear EXCEPT some light yellowing to first 16 pages, some general oxidization to letters of pages 113-128 (see image), and one seminar stamp to half-title page. A very nice copy of this very scarce book. IN FRENCH ; text en latin, Rome, 1664, reliure en vélin avec titre manuscrit au dos, environ 16 X 11 cm, (16) 236 pages, illustré par une armoirie en frontispice. Le livre est en EXCELLENTE condition, propre et solide sans trace d'usure notable sauf quelques petites taches brunâtres ici et là. L'intérieur est en EXCELLENTE condition aussi, très frais, propre et solidement relié, sans trace d'usure, ne montrant seulement qu'un léger jaunissement des 16 premières pages, et une oxydation générale du lettrages des pages 113-128 bien que le texte reste très lisible (voir la photo). Et in quest'ultima Impressone di diversi errori emendato", pg.106. b) "Roma ricercata nel suo sito e nella Scola di tutti gl'Antiquarij di Fioravante Martinelli romano, revista, corretta, & accresciuta dall'Autore in molti luoghi con antiche, e moderne eruditioni", pg.178, (14). Legatura coeva in piena pergamena rigida con titoli manoscritti al dorso. > Olschki, 17437. ICCU\VEAE\003700 attribuisce la paternità della "Relatione della Corte di Roma" a Gregorio Leti. Melzi, III, 60, riferendosi alla edizione 1623 del "Maestro di Camera", "L'Ugurgieri Azzolini ci manifesta che il libro non è del Sestini che lo fece stampare come suo, ma bensì di Girolamo Lunadori. Questo plagio fu vendicato da romuno Lunadori suo nipote che diede in luce compiuto questo trattato in Padova colle stampe di Paolo Frambotto l'anno 1635. Atlas Maior 1664 - Copper engraving. Original colour. Size: 52.5 x 38 cm. (20½ x 15 inches) Fine condition Exceptional example of this decorative map of Sussex. Large margins. Dutch text on verso. Has the coat of arms of King Charles I on the left and the old Plantagenet coat of arms on the right (first used by Richard the Lionheart), as well as 4 coats of arms of local noblemen in between. The map first appeared in Joan Blaeu's 1645 atlas of England. Like most maps in the atlas it was copied from one in John Speed's Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine (1611-1612). Blaeu's atlas was both published separately and added as an appendix to his Theatrum Orbis Terrarum and then to his Atlas Maior . In the present second state, it appeared in these atlases from 1646 to 1667.

(Amsterdam, omkr. 1664). 38x50 cm. Kobberstukket kort over Island med stor kartouche, kompasrose, skibe og havuhyrer i søen. I samtidig håndkolorering. Meget svagt brunet, lille brud i centerfoldningen, men intet tab. Det karakteriske, kendte Islands-kort er her indrammet i en bred antik guldramme med glas på for-og bagside således at den hollandske tekst på kortets bagside kan læses. ¶ Blaeu's islandskort optræder første gang 1630 i "Atlantis Appendix", hans første atlasudgivelse. Siden optrykt mange gange i de forskellige udgaver af "Atlas Major". Med den hollandske tekst på bagsiden er kortet formentlig fra "Grooten Atlas" 1664, selv om Blaeu's navn ikke optræder i kartouchen.

Seit 1659 als Konrektor an der Salderischen Schule in Brandenburg tätig, wurde Kindermann 1664 Rektor, wechselte 1667 nach Magdeburg, wo er zunächst als Diakon an St. Ulrich, danach als erster Prediger und später als Scholarch wirkte. 3 handwritten notebooks, containing the records of a farm at Washbourne, South Devon between 1664 -1780 - payments for work done, products sold, money lent, tithes and taxes paid, debts repaid. Periods covered are from 1664-91 and 1730-80. The farm was owned, in the later period by Samuell Parnell and the notes give the names of many people he dealt with. It seems from a note in the second notebook that the farm was owned or tenanted by Samuel Cockrem in 1839.& Notebook 1: (146 x 92mm). Oblong small octavo. Full brown calf, blind ruled panels and borders to boards, brass on leather clasp. 127ff of which about 50 are blank. The first 24 and last 18 relate to rents collected 1664-1690. The rest are farm transactions of the 1730s.& Notebook II: (92 x152mm). Small octavo. Full vellum, rich brown age patina, with envelope flap, missing the metal clasp and lock. Pocket at the back is empty. Inscribed on front pastedown ÒSamuell Parnell, This Book October ye 30 day 1731. 100ff, very few blank sides. One page gives a recipe Òto kill lice worms and the scab in sheep, signed by ÔSamuel Cockrem, Washbourne, Halwell Devon Oct 26th 1839Õ.& Notebook III: (76x 123mm). Full vellum, worn and creased, envelope flap with broken clasp, the greenish metal is corroded (copper?), 50ff, the first and last leaves are torn with a little loss, 9 are blank and the dates mention 1740-53.

Art Nouveau bookplate of Haut on pastedown and slightly faded name at top margin of title. Endpapers earlier than the rebinding, as they and the first few preliminaries have matching worming but all but one single hole have disappeared by the first page of text. The last two leaves of the end of the second item have one worm hole in the gutter margin. There is some foxing & browning but the paper is supple and strong and entirely readable and there are no tears or signs of use. *This is the second Latin translation of Pascale's work written to defend the Jansenists from the attacks of the Jesuits and which has the additional Theses bound in. As with the French edition, so also this Latin translation of Pascal's was condemned by Pope Alexander the seventh and supposed to be Publicly burnt. It was psudonymously translated from the French into Latin for wider dissemination at Port-Royal (ee also PRINTING AND THE MIND OF MAN 140).

Han kallades därför 1663 till förhör inför domkapitlet i Härnösand där i synnerhet hans relation till den religiöse tänkaren och pacifisten Paul Felgenhauer (1593-ca 1677) synades i sömmarna. I förhören var Kempe försiktig, men när han året därpå befann sig i landsflykt i Amsterdam var han mer frispråkig. The books consist mainly of proverbs and sayings attributed to the Greeks, Romans and Spartans; philosophers notably are cited and various famous individuals; some short tales are included where a particularly apt or pithy comment has concluded a dialogue. Nicolas Perrot (1606-64) was a translator and man of letters, noted for the excellence of his style; his free method of translating was applauded for capturing the essence of the writer.
