Erstausgabe. Der Orient- und Indienreisende François La Boullaye le Gouz berichtet hier über seine erste Reise, die ihn in den Nahen Osten, nach Persien und auf den indischen Subkontinent führte. "The account bears a high character for veracity and exactness and is very minute in its account of the casts and religions of India" (Robert Kerr, A General History and Collection of Voyages and Travels). Nach seiner Ausbildung im Jesuitenkolleg von La Flèche (Sarthe) glaubte sich der Verfasser als Freiwilliger an der Auseinandersetzung zwischen Charles I. und Oliver Cromewell beteiligen zu müssen, zog sich dann aber noch rechtzeitig daraus zurück. Stattdessen machte sich La Boullaye 1643 auf seine lange Reise nach Indien. Ueber Lyon und Marseille erreichte er Rom, von wo aus er im Oktober 1644 in Richtung Griechenland und weiter nach Istanbul und Anatolien reiste. Vor seinem Grenzübertritt nach Persien änderte er seinen Namen in Ibrahim Beg und passte auch seine Kleidung den safawidischen Gepflogenheiten an. En la parte final del libro hay numerosas anotaciones en el margen derecho, igualmente al final del libro y en la guarda hay numerosas anotaciones. Estas anotaciones hechas posiblemente en el siglo XVIII están minuciosamente hechas dándole encanto al ejemplar. Encuadernado en plena pasta española, con roces en las puntas. Débiles cercos de mancha de humedad. Buen papel. Buen ejemplar. Aunque en la portada como autor pone Alonso Núñez de Castro el verdadero autor del libro es Hernando Pecha. HISTORIA DE ESPAÑA.

1653. Acquaforte, monogrammata in lastra in basso. Foglio 3 della serie di 6 acqueforti che compongono l'intera Veduta della Villa medicea di Pratolino. Magnifica prova, impressa su carta vergata coeva, con margini, in perfetto stato di conservazione. L'opera fu realizzata dopo la morte di Lorenzo de' Medici (1648), quando Della Bella decise di rientrare a Firenze e qui riprese la sua attività per la corte realizzando anche vedute di ville e altri luoghi medicei. La villa medicea fu fatta edificare da Francesco I de' Medici, tra il 1569 e il 1581, per il soggiorno della sua seconda moglie, Bianca Cappello. Fu poi demolita nel 1822 ma il parco in cui sorgeva fu poi acquistato dalla famiglia russa dei Demidoff che fece trasformare il superstite edificio dell'epoca medicea della Paggeria nell'attuale Villa Demidoff. L'incisione raffigura la facciata sud della Villa. Così Bernardo Sansone Sgrilli nella sua Descrizione della regia villa, fontane et fabriche di Pratolino, del 1742: "Quindi si và in un gran prato detto il prato delle grotte che rigira intorno al palazzo con sederi attorno e due gran piramidi che fanno accompagnatura all altre due sulla ringhiera e dalla parte di levante vi è un giardino che a suo tempo si descriverà. Da detto Prato per mezzo di scale a cordoni si scende nel barco che è pieno di un gran numero di fontane. Sotto a questa scala a cordonivi è una grotta ed all entrare di essa si vede una statua che rappresenta il fiume Mugnone che in vicinanza di questa Villa ha la sua origine e questa figura butta dell acqua in abbondanza dentro a una pila di marmo.. … [Click Below for Full Description]

Old leather is cracked and rubbed and scuffed at extremities. Spine has been skillfully rebacked in leather, overlaying remaining parts of former backstrip. Pages are mostly quite clean with browned edges and the occasional chip or short tear. There are old damp stains to the lower fore edge corners of leading and terminal pages. Map number 44, Britannia Anglo-Saxonica, is lacking. Following title page, index and [34] pages are 49 double-page copper-engraved maps on free hinges. Loose translation of full title: An Accurate Atlas of the Ancient World, or Old Geography, Sacred and Profane, Exhibiting Governments, Principalities and Public Events from the Beginning to the Present World State. Lovely large (620 mm by 494 mm) engraved maps with decorative borders and illustrative vignettes. Contemporary editions of this atlas call for 50 -54 maps. The index in this copy indicates it was issued with 50. . Very Good. 1653.

Frontespizio rosso e nero con antico timbro di proprietario e una scritta cancellata al margine inferiore. Per il resto, ottimo esemplare. Vinnius fu uno dei più importanti giuristi olandesi del XVII secolo e titolare della cattedra di diritto all'Università di Leida. Legatura coeva in pergamena con unghie. (Willems, 736).
