On a recommendation of the Cologne Jesuits commissioned the Cologne Archbishop Ferdinand of Bavaria so Ulenberg. Ulenberg began his work in 1614 and finished it shortly before his death in 1617. However, the manuscript of the revision remained initially unpublished as a result of the Thirty Years' War . It was not until 1630, the revised version was printed in Johan Kreps in Cologne in a decorated with stitches large folio tape under the supervision of the Jesuits, the New Testament appeared simultaneously at the same publisher in a simpler octave format edition. Since this revision one also speaks of the "Dietenberger Ulenberg Bible" or simply "Ulenberg Bible". She experienced numerous editions. Adolph Gottfried Volusius revised from 1655 Ulenberg translation. Volusius' 1661/1662 completed so-called "Mainz Bible" remained unpublished. 66959 BENEDICTIO Succurre nobis Mater Christi... 1630 BENEDICTIO Succurre nobis Mater Christi... Sans date (XVIIs.). MANUSCRIT in-12. 52pp.

[Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]

(Flandres, c. a. 1630). ______ Format : In-folio. 1630 HUGE FOLIO GERMAN CATHOLIC BIBLE CASPER ULENBERG BIBLE Description Huger German Bible weighing 13lb and measuring 15 by 10 inches and 5 inches thick in original wooden boards vellum wrapped and remaining clasps. I cannot find another copies of the Bible listed for sale or any other examples of it, I know this an updated revision of the Catholic Bible translated by Johann Dietenberger Wikipedia states the following After the vulgate had been revised at the instigation of the popes Sixtus V. and Clement VIII ( editio Sixtina or Sixto-Clementina ), it proved necessary to revise the German translation of Johann Dietenberger . This appears to be the first printing of this revision and included the complete Bible only 1 title page is found the … [Click Below for Full Description]

The New Laws were heavily opposed by colonist “many of which were rescinded later, after the rebellion of Gonzalo Pizarro, as the clauses affecting land-tenure and slave-grants had led to bitter dissatisfaction on the part of die descendants of the first Spanish settlers and conquistadores. The work was written at the request of Don Lorenco Ramirez de Prado, of the Council of the Indies, to whom it is dedicated.LeonPinelowas asked to suggest which of the old laws he considered should be maintained or revived for the common welfare of the Indians, and in doing this work contributed a valuable commentary on the contemporary social and economic history of America.” (Maggs).
