Augustus, elector of Saxony.
Witteberg: [Johann Schwertel,], 1565. Witteberg:: [Johann Schwertel,], 1565.. Very rare. From first edition.. 12.5 x 16.5cm. Single leaf.. Title page only (portrait on verso). Beautiful decorative border title page, excellent impression. Portrait of Augustus, elector of Saxony and verso, clean, fine impression. Leaf is trimmed just outside border of title page, no affect to verso. Mounted at left corners to larger plain white leaf (only at corners, so portrait is viewable on flipside). Suitable for framing, or perhaps mating with another copy. From a multi-volume Biblia Germanico-Latina edited by Paul Eber and Georg Major at the command of Augustus, elector of Saxony. We are unsure if this is the main title page or one of several, though having the portrait of Augustus, it is likely a main title.

Giovanni Battista PITTONI detto "Battista Vicentino"
Venezia 1565 - Acquaforte e bulino, 1565, firmata e datata in lastra in basso a destra. [Click Below for Full Description]
