1565. Carta geografica di Maiorca a firma Ferrando Bertelli. Al centro dell'isola MAIORICA. In alto a sinistra in una targa con bordi ornati DE MAIORICA INSULA. MAIORICA ex duabus prope hispaniam ad orie[n]tem belearibus, sive gimnesis insulis altera maior et occidentalior contra iben iluminis ostia, à re sic dicta eius motropolis ad orientem solem septentrionem versus eodem nunc nomine quo et insula prius ut fetur palma vocata optimo portu, academia universali doctrina q[uae] lulliana nobilis ad meridiem vero alteram habet civitatem bollentiam sive pollentiam nomine Iuxta littora plana est et saecunda in interioribus vero contra, montibus referta et infaecunda.
Quelques feuillet … [Click Below for Full Description]

Exceptionally attractive and important manuscript from the Bohemian Royal offices; the principal document of the Bohemian national finances in the second year of the rule of Emperor Maximilian II. The volume begins with an alphabetical index, arranged in double pages and listing revenues (on left) and payments (on right) by name. Among the payers and recipients are several important names, most of them members of German-Bohemian, Czech and Polish noble families, the Tyrolean glass manufacturer Sebastian Hochstetter von Scheibenegg (d. 1573), but also the great physician Pietro Andrea Mattioli (1500-77): "Petter Andreas Mathiolo [.] (f. 263v). He started an art academy in Rome, where Carracci was among his students. Frans Floris (1519/20-1570) was the foremost Antwerp artist of the mid-sixteenth century. Known as the Flemish Raphael, he was admired for his Italianate style, treatment of the body and approach to composition. Nearly all Netherlandish printmakers active between 1550 and 1570 worked from Floris’s designs. Condition: Good, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge, with loss of text caption. BALDINI BACCIO.
Gamba 2750 "Bella e rara operetta". Ruggieri (1873) 708. Cicognara 1375 "spettacoli ricchi e grandiosi: libro raro e prezioso". Petrioli Toffan … [Click Below for Full Description]

[Click Below for Full Description]

CALVIN, Jean
Lyon, Jean Martin [Jean II Frellon],, 1565. ______ Format : In-8. Folio (235 x 314 mm). German ms. on paper with calligraphic captions and several half-titles. 453 ff. Contemp. blindstamped pigskin on wooden boards. Wants ties. Exceptionally attractive and important manuscript from the Bohemian Royal offices; the principal document of the Bohemian national finances in the second year of the rule of Emperor Maximilian II. A beautiful and hitherto unknown document of Renaissance bookkeeping in its well-preserved original binding. - In the present manuscript, Johann Rabenhaupt, head of the Royal bursary and responsible for the accounting year 1565, has testified the correct statement of revenues and expenditures by his signature on every page. 1573), but also the great physician Pietro Andrea Mattioli (1500-77): "Petter Andreas Mathiolo [...] (f. 263v).
