[Turkey or Persia, 1787. Initial leaf with small gilt polychrome headpiece, text in black ink on polished paper, 15 lines in fine nasta'liq hand, headwords in red, within gilt borders. Occasional marginal additions. 134 leaves, complete. 1 vols. 8vo. Contemporary oxblood leather binding, rules in gilt about central gilt mandorlas, fore edge guard. Some wear to binding (spine ends, flap fold), gilt edges partly rubbed plain, an occasional smudge. Very good, internally clean. Two nineteenth-century ownership stamps and several notes, one dated A.H. 1289 (1872 C.E.). Handsome manuscript Hanafi legal treatise by al-Quduri (ca. 972-1037 C.E.), of Baghdad. One of the notes on the preliminary blank provides a date for the manuscript copy, ca. 1201 A.H. or 1787 C.E.
