The 1960-1961 insurance policies for Hemingway's three cars located at his beloved home in Cuba, Vinca La Vigia. These were to be the final policies written for car insurance for these cars. Hemingway was involved in many car accidents over the course of his life, causing chronic pain that is speculated to be one cause of his suicide
Document signed, with attached endorsement and the maximum limits declaration page, 3 pages, measuring 8.5" x 12.25", 8.25 x 5.5", and 8.5" x 10" respectively, July 1, 1960. The final insurance policy for the 3 cars owned by Ernest Hemingway, housed at his beloved Cuban estate Finca La Vigia. Additionally, three insurance cards, one for each of the three cars. The policy expired in July 1961, by which time, Hemingway had killed himself, and the Cuban government took possession of the property. The policy covers property damage and bodily injury or death on a 1950 Buick station wagon, a 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook convertible, and a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker convertible. Also enclosed is a color negative and a reprint of four people riding in what appears to be the Chrysler.
