F.C. and J. Rivington, et al, London 1817 - TWO VOLUMES UNIFORMLY BOUND. All edges gilt. Covers bordered in gilt fillets and floral designs, central gilt chain rectangle with florets at each corner. Panelled spines with elaborate gilt designs and red leather labels. Spines have been professionally restored, hinges reinforced. Dark green endpapers, likely replaced at some time in the past. Presented together with: PARADISE REGAINED, WITH SELECT NOTES SUBJOINED; TO WHICH IS ADDED, A COMPLETE COLLECTION OF HIS MISCELLANEOUS POEMS. "PARADISE LOST" contains a portrait frontispiece and lovely vignette title-page, as well as a vignette tail piece at the conclusion, and a full-page engraving of Adam and Eve. "PARADISE REGAINED" has an engraved frontispiece and a single full-page plate of Samson and Delilah at p.130. Plates are moderately foxed, with some peripheral water-staining. Text is exceptionally fresh. A mellow, kindly restored duet in a contemporary binding. 384-432pp. Octavo [Attributes: Hard Cover]
