Hemingway's last insurance policy for the workers of his beloved Cuban home and boat, "Finca La Vigia" and "Pilar". The policy would renew in August of 1961, by which time Hemingway was dead, and these belongings became property of the Cuban government
Archive of Ernest Hemingway related documents and a candid photo, 7 pages total, 8.5" x 11", dated August 26, 1960 providing proof of Workers Compensation insurance for ?Finca La Vigia?, Hemingway?s Cuban home. Includes a 1-page cover letter from G. F. Kohly, the insurance agent in Havana, a signed original and a signed file copy of the insurance certificate, the receipt of payment for that year's premium, stamped "cancelado", and an original plus two file copies of a ?Payroll Report?, outlining which employees of Hemingway?s would be covered under this policy. The policy was written by ?The Liverpool & London & Globe Insurance Company Limited, Liverpool England?. The policy ran from August 1, 1960 until August 1, 1961, by which time Hemingway was dead. This item is from the personal property of Roberto Herrera Sotolongo, the personal secretary and friend of Ernest Hemingway.
