NEW MAP OF THE CITY AND UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
Pearson, R., High Street, London 1817 - VG map. Image size 432x357mm. Plate mark 470x410. Removed from "Walks of Oxford". The 1st edition was published in late 1700s. Bright map. To differentiate from the city itself the Oxford buildings are in very dark black. Faint aging but ZERO foxing, soiling or damp staining. Few closed tears at the fold lines, restricted solely to the margins BUT: a 6" closed tear at center right which is repaired on verso with what appears to be acid free repair tape. No other tears, not even a pin prick at fold line intersections. This map has 3 changes from the 1st edition. (1) 1st had 54 numbered locations, now expanded to 56. (2) 1st DID NOT include "University" in the title. (3) Distance scale now in yards. [Attributes: First Edition]
