Edinburgh and London: Printed for A. Strahan and T. Cadell. 1792. Seventh edition, corrected. Four volumes. Bound in fine contemporary polished tree calf, flat spines elaborately gilt in compartments with arches, swirling foliage, and central eight-pointed star ornaments; red spine labels gilt with volume number in small circular label with volume numbers in gilt. A trifle foxed in text, joints and spines a little rubbed but a nice, near fine set. An important history according to DNB "one of the first successful attempts in England at historical generalisation on the basis of large accumulation of facts." A very handsome set. .
