'Of great use in the practice of arithmetic, geometry, mensuration, gauging, trigonometry, navigation, astronomy, dialing, statics, algebra, mechanic powers, and all the branches of the mathematics. 'With an advertisement by the King's Patent to front. The book contains a detailed description of the complicatedsliding rule and instructions for performing a great number of different calculationson it. John Suxspeach was a schoolmaster in Stepney, London, and designed the instrument for his own personal use. After being advised to make it available to the public, he saw the need forthis instruction manual. With copperplate notes to front free endpaper. Plate has been removed and is not present. Condition: In a half calf binding with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, rather worn and rubbed. Front board detached but present. Some loss to leather of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Generally bright with spotting, most noticeably to first and last few pages. Small ink marks to first page and slight loss to corner of title page. Overall: GOOD ONLY.
