SING-SONG. A Nursery Rhyme Book. With one hundred and twenty illustrations by Arthur Hughes. Engraved by the brothers Dalziel.
Bound in full morocco, gilt by Douglas Cockerill , with decoration in blind and gilt; signed with a monogram and dated 1899. Octavo. Some spotting on title and throughout; slight wear to gilt on upper board; else a very good copy in a handsome binding. First published 1872. Louis Davis was a well-known water-colourist, creator of stained glass and a book illustrator. His work was heavily influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and by the Art and Crafts movement. The book bears his signature on a front endpaper in pencil; the binding incorporates his monogram in both upper and lower panels.
