Gilt lettering in vignette dulled in one small area. Top 1 1/2" of title-page loosened with some browning along gutter suggesting old glue repair. Eight illustrations including frontispiece of the characters (Doyle plays Professor Challenger in the photograph!). This is the first story in the Challenger trilogy , the others being, "The Poison Belt" and "The Land of Mist". Green and Gibson A37a. 319pp. . First English Edition. Blue Cloth. Minor Wear Only/No Dust Jacket. Octavo.
