Three octavo volumes; publisher's orange-brown cloth, decoratively stamped in blind and lettered in gilt on spines; [x],359; [viii],319; [viii],313pp. 16pp of publisher's ads at end of volume III; Carter's first state of volume I, without the inserted ad leaf. Cream yellow endpapers, with binder's ticket of Edmonds & Remnants to rear pastedown of volume I. First volume expertly restored at spine ends, else a clean, original and well-preserved set. Early ownership signature ("Evelyn Maud Challis") to each volume; scattered foxing to texts; Very Good.
