North Hollywood: Essex House, 1969. First Edition. Octavo (17cm); pictorial card wrappers; 255,[1]pp. Signed by the author vertically along right side of front wrapper. Signature a bit smudged, some trivial wear to extremities, with a short, hair-line tear at crown; Near Fine and unread. Volume collecting a large portion of Bukowski's "Notes of a Dirty Old Man" column which he wrote for Open City between May, 1967 and February, 1969. The column and subsequent publication of the book made Bukowski more famous than nearly anything else he did throughout his career. The Essex House edition precedes the more common City Lights publication by four years. Uncommon signed. Krumhansl 29a.
