He had produced a condensed version of the main portion of Mhabharata in Bengali. In this time he had links with militant revolutionary organisations fighting for Indian independence from the British, which were considered terrorists by the British establishment. The Visva-Bharati University, central university in India, located in West-Bengal, has been the alma mater of several prominent personalities of the national movement in India. Tagore coined the name Visva-Bharati, which menas the communion of the world with India.)
