F. K. Hascall 1933 - Harry Wearne was one of the most famous fabric designers of the day in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many of his pieces remain classics and in use. Metropolitan Museum of Art has a sizeable collection of Wearne's designs; this is the first British edition limited to 550 numbered copies (this is no. 432); the book is not signed; this book has 63 reproductions of his designs in full color & 5 photos of Wearne & friends printed on a thicker paper than the illustrated plates; with a 6 page FOREWORD; on the opposite page of the plates are short descriptions taken mostly from Harry Wearne's notes; 179pp; illustrations with tissue guards; gold fore edges; book is tight; foxing to the endpapers; rubbing & nicks to the cloth boards; first end paper has a contemporary price in ink at top; on the Title page & Foreword page are some finger imprints; some of the tissue guards have some creases, otherwise the interior plates are in GOOD COND.
