The Black Battalion; They Ask No favors Because They Are Negroes, But Only For Justice Because They Are Men
Washington: No Publisher, 1909. First Edition. Wraps. Very good, chipping at top edge of the front wrapper. octavo, pp. 54; original printed paper wrappers;. A speech by Sen. Foraker of Ohio in defense of the Brownsville Black Troops that were summarily cashiered from the Service following the Brownsville Affair. Foraker championed their cause which was just, although he did have his eye on a Presidential run. Brownsville material is generally very scarce, this piece is no exception. OCLC locates just seven copies.
