London: George Newnes, November 1938 - October 1939.. RARE LATE ISSUES. Small quarto, pp.704; pp.670. With frequent colour illustrations, both in-text and full page plates. One section of Christmas-themed colour plates by W. Heath Robinson. In later purple cloth with gilt titles to spine. All edges flecked red. Small bookplate of Ted Schultz, San Rafael, California, to rear pastedown. Spine sunned and joints rubbed, otherwise a very good example of a rare late run of the magazine. Highlights include: 'The Perfect Close', 'Service for the Blind', and 'The Faithful Servant' by Hugh Walpole; 'My Life of Music' by Henry J. Wood; 'Release of a Star' by James Hilton; 'Death in the Dressing-Room', 'The Empty Flat' and 'The Silver Curtain' by Carter Dickson; 'The Meaning of the Act' by Margery Allingham; 'Uncle' by W. W. Jacobs; 'The Rt. Hon. Anthony Eden, P.C.' by Winston Churchill; 'The Editor Regrets' by P. G. Wodehouse; and 'The Bottle Party' by H. C. Bailey.
