Modern half-vellum. (a few marginal repairs; title-page repaired; half of the quires seriously browned due to paper quality, not affecting the plates.) Willems 99. Translation by the pastor J. De le Heye. Dedicatory sonnet and closing sonnet by R.J. De Nerée. Introductory poem by Grotius first published in 1604 (Ter Meulen en Diermanse 29). For the poem by Grotius in the text, p.68: Ter Meulen en Diermanse 278. The Dedicatory and closing sonnets by De Neree; dedicatory poem by H.Grotius. Plates identical to those of the Dutch 1613 edition ('De bloedige belegeringe der stad Oostende'), but in variant order.
