BEZOAR [73 of 85 Issues Published, a Near-Complete Set]
Gloucester, MA: Bezoar, (1976-1981). Wraps. Near Fine. Most issues 8.5" x 11" top-stapled mimeo. All issues folded for mailing with labels and stamps, as issued. Else generally fine. Typically 5-7 leaves, 10-15pp. per issue with some variations in length and format. Irregularly numbered. Language Poetry's version of FLOATING BEAR (mimicking both its production and distribution methods), editors Fred Buck, Thorpe Feidt, and Paul Kahn published 85 issues of BEZOAR between 1975 and 1981, distributing them to a mailing list of about 350. Like Floating Bear, more newsletter than traditional little magazine, it served as a venue for quickly disseminating new work to a dedicated core of readers and writers. Contributors include: Bruce Andrews, Amiri Baraka, Charles Bernstein, George Bowering, William Corbett, Robert Creeley, Edward Dorn, Larry Eigner ,Ted Enslin, Clayton Eshelman, Robert Grenier, Lyn Hejinian, Robert Kelly, Joanne Kyger, Bernadette Mayer, Michael McClure, Charles Olson, Joel Oppenheimer, Michael Palmer, Charles Reznikoff, Jerome Rothenberg, Ron Silliman, Philip Whalen, and John Yau. A near-complete run, lacking only 12 issues, most of those from BEZOAR's first year of publication. Issues remain scarce; runs - esp. substantive ones - rare.
