Milton: A Poem.
Clairvaux, Jura, France: The Trianon Press for The William Blake Trust, 1967 - Tall quarto. Original brown quarter morocco, marbled sides, titles gilt to spine, top edge gilt. Housed in the publisher's marbled slipcase. Trivial rubbing to ends, otherwise fine. Colour illuminated facsimiles achieved by collotype and stencil throughout. First edition thus, publisher Arnold Fawcus's copy, number 1 on 380 copies thus, from a total edition of 426 numbered copies printed on Arches rag paper to match that used by Blake. This copy, numbered 1 in the series, derives from the Trianon Press Archive, from the estate of Trianon publisher and founder Arnold Fawcus. Blake's Milton is the second-longest and penultimate of Blake's illuminated books, and contains the lyrics, "And did those feet in ancient time.", that would come to be sung as the hymn "Jerusalem".
