London: J. Dowding, Bookseller, n.d. (ca. 1821). Early Edition. Hardcover. Improved edition." Folio. Hand-colored engraved title, showing the publication date of 1815 but the publisher as R. Havell, and so likely around 1821; plus 24 finely printed hand-colored aquatint plates. All plates have at the bottom a small colored engraving of an archaeological object. Newly bound in quarter maroon pigskin, spine with gilt bars and leather lettering piece, gilt; marbled paper boards. Ex-library with a neat perforation stamp on the printed title and single line stamp on the reverse of the plates. The plates have occasional light soil; one plate has had a corner remargined (no loss, and another has a short closed marginal tear, also with no loss. The images themselves are lovely and bright with only occasional light foxing and soil. Lowndes, p. 1541. Abbey 'Life' 427. Tooley 327.
