Streeter Sale 2019 says "This day by day journal is interesting for its account of a journey from northern New York state to southeastern Kansas in 1856, the last stage from Kansas City to the banks of the Neosho River being by covered wagon; for its portrayal of the Border Ruffians and turbulent conditions in Kansas in 1856, and its account of a communistic vegetarian colony." The constitution of the Vegetarian Settlement Company is located on pages 288-294. Former owner's inked name on front fly leaf, scattered light foxing, else a very good copy.
