Translated into English verse under the direction of Sir Samuel Garth by John Dryden, Alexander Pope, Joseph Addison, William Congreve and other eminent hands. Octavo. Original cloth backed boards, gilt title label, patterned paper sides, top edge yellow. With the dust jacket. Housed in the publisher's card slipcase. Etched engravings by Hans Enri. Fine, but for a few trivial marks to slipcase and very minor wear to its corners. First edition thus, copy 674 of 1,500 copies signed by engraver Hans Enri and the publisher Giovanni Mardersteig, the "Garth Translation" of Ovid's Metamorphoses, which was original collected and edited in 1717, here finely printed at the Officina Bodoni
