PAUL TO THE GALATHIANS: first collected and gathered word by word out of his preaching, and now out of Latine faithfully translated into English for the unlearned. Wherein is set forth most excellently the glorious riches of Gods grace, and the power of the Gospell, with the difference between the Law and the Gospel, & strength of Faith declared: to the ioyfull comfort and confirmation of all true Christian beleevers, especially such as inwardly being afflicted and grieved in consciences, do hunger and thirst for iustification in Christ Jesu. For whose cause most chiefly this book is translated and printed, and dedicated to the same. 1616, 4to in eights, 190 x 145 mm, 7½ x 5¾, printer's anchor device on title page, leaves: [4], 1-296, numbered on rectos only, making a total of 600 pages, collation: A4, B-Pp8, printed in black letter. First leaf of signature X from another copy and slightly trimmed at fore-edge, title page dusty and with small piece cut from upper outer corner, neatly repaired, margins to prelim pages very lightly soiled, small piece missing from 1 corner with loss of 1 word of sidenote, a few lower corners have a small piece missing, small stain to 1 margin, a few pencil marks in the margins, a few pages lightly browned, 8 pages more heavily, all still easily legible, occasional pale damp staining, mainly to margins. BOUND WITH: A COMMENTARIE UPON THE FIFTEENE PSALMES, CALLED PSALMI GRADUUM, that is Psalmes of Degrees. Faithfully copied out of the lectures of D. Martin Luther, very fruitfull and comfortable for all Christian afflicted consciences to reade. Translated out of Latine into English by Henry Bull. Richard Field, 1615. Pages: [10], 1-90, 93-318, [2], collation: A-V8, X4, X4 is a blank, the error in pagination occurs in all copies, collated and guaranteed complete. Edge of 2 upper margins slightly frayed, not affecting running title, a few pages lightly browned. Bound together in antique leather, rebacked with raised bands but no label or lettering. Covers rubbed, worn and repaired, corners worn with crude repairs, shelf wear to edges with loss of leather, inner paper hinges cracked, endpapers and pastedowns chipped and worn, fore-edge of front endpaper repaired with old paper, date of 1638 in old ink on front endpaper and in the same hand a name on verso and on title page of first work, otherwise good condition.
