London: W. Strahan et al., 1770. First edition of the most comprehensive guide to farm management published in the 18th century. Young's aim in this work was to show how any given amount of capital might best be spent in agriculture. Young always considered a farm as a business venture from which profits were to be made. There is a very interesting chapter describing the farmyard and its buildings which are illustrated on the two folding engraved plates. They very probably are representations of Young's own farm. A fine uncut set. Woburn Abbey bookplate.
