Advance proof printed on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, bound in clear acetate (front) and black cardstock (spine and back). Small indentation on top front continuing into first few pages. Light wear to cardstock edges. Cover sheet is publicity letter, dated November 20, 1991, from Sonny Mehta, editor-in-chief of Knopf, to booksellers predicting that this book would be McCarthy's break-through. Indeed, "All the Pretty Horses" went on to win the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award, and did much to bring McCarthy's earlier works into world-wide attention. Excerpt: Quarto (27.5 cm), pp. 16. Staplebound tan paper. An advance publicity offprint from the March 1992 edition of Esquire Magazine. Includes full-color illustrations by Marshall Arisman, a painter and illustrator with artwork in the permanant collections of the National Museum of American Art, The Brooklyn Museum and the Smithsonian. Light bumping to top corner and 1/2" closed tear on back page.
