The Jungle Publishing Co., New York 1906 - "Sustainer's Edition" label glued to front pastedown states "An appeal was published in the Socialist press for advance orders to make possible the publication of this book. About five thousand copies were ordered, of which this is one." NO date to copyright page, which lists publisher as "The Jungle Publishing Co. / Box 2064, New York." "Jungle Publishing" also stamped to bottom of spine. NO reference to Doubleday found in this copy. (Doubleday edition often listed as the true first, though some sources list this edition as a parallel first.) Firm, clear, undamaged type to copyright page states "Copyright, 1905, 1906 by UPTION SINCLAIR / Published February, 1906." No later dates or subsequent printings mentioned. Condition of this copy is a solid "good" with rub to all edges and board corners peeking through. White title type clear to front board, though chipped away to equivalent of a blind-stamping to the spine. Front hinge is in lovely condition; rear hinge is starting. 413 pp. followed by 3 pp. publisher's ads. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
